I’ve been meaning to get started on making a bed for the master bedroom. My goal is to build a long headboard out of Wenge with some sap wood that I will straighten and flip the natural edges to the center and mount it on the wall. I finally found the wenge boards this past spring. I invested a small fortune in these boards, but I guess if the bed turns out well I’m going to have it for the rest of my life… so it should be worth it right?. They are each 13 feet long and I...

This is one of those time. ...

Bending wood is something I have never tried before and is out of my comfort zone. I wanted to dive into this area of woodworking and challenge myself as well as learn something new. So of the various forms of wood bending (Laminated Bending, Milled Bending, Steam Bending) I chose steam bending to be my first attempt. The kit I purchased included the reservoir, hose, and so...
After getting home pretty late today I finished putting the last bits of trim on my tv stand and sanded it down to 320. Im planning on taking it to 1000 but I might not. The wood is wenge for the trim and sides and the tops are acacia flooring. What are your thought for the finish?
I had this great idea to build a cool tv stand for our living room. Its part of my new recent adventure to build all the furniture for our house in Hawaii. However, at the beginning of the project, I soon realized that wood in Hawaii is expensive and hard to find. So I had to find other ways to cut costs on wood but not sacrifice the quality or the look. So my first idea was to use hardwood flooring for table top and shelves, and then frame it all in with real hardwood. So off to the flo...
