I posted a picture of a Craftsman Style Frame i made and i thought if anyone was interested, i have a two part video series of how i did it. The main jointery is the use of a half lap. It’s a simple and yet strong joint. I decided to show how to make it using both power tools and hand tools. Hope you enjoy it.chad stanton
So a few weeks ago i posted a picture of the cabinet I made for American Woodworker Magazine. Well finally I’ve got the video done. Hope you enjoy it.
So after making my wooden bracelets, I decided I wanted to use the same method to make a watch. Due to the materials I had at hand, I ended up using a different method to make the watch than I did the bracelets. 1. Draw up a pattern. (I used CORELDraw to design mine) 2. Select Material – I went with 1/4” thick red oak flatstock. 3. Trace or use spray adhesive to attach pattern to blanks. 4. Drill link holes (I clamped mine between 2 1/2” pieces to make easier to...
Since I did a video how to fit inset doors, I thought maybe I should take a step backwards and show how to make a simple cope and stick cabinet door. Hope you enjoy the video, especially the ending.:-)
Finally I got it done and shipped it off to the customer. He wont get it in his hands until next week, so I will post his impressions when I hear back. I hope its what he wants!!! TIP:Some of you may know about this but many will not. This is my secret to quickly fine sand the box prior to spraying lacquer. I hand sanded down to 220 and then I finish up with green nylon pads. These were bought at the local dollar store. Guess how much? Thats right, a whole dollar. You can buy similar pads ...
This is why its been awhile since my last post. One of the problems with shaping wood to this extent is any flaws show up. Figured Bigleaf Maple, aka Western Maple, Oregon Maple, Acer macrophyllum, can have pits, bark inclusions, etc… Well, I found a few during the final shaping. I knew I was getting pretty close to maximum depth in one corner, but I couldnt leave that little black spot glaring at me. Then I was all the way through and exposing the bloodwood below, nothing ...
One of the things that I enjoy doing is giving my customer and friends a peek into my shop. I have a system that I’ve built up over the years. This system involves a few cameras mounted around the shop. Lately I’ve experienced a little bit of quality problems. I thought it may be just the camera getting, but come to find out it was old wiring (must be something to do about the change in temperature in the shop). I’ve got that resolved and now back up to 4 cameras (3 s...
http://we-wood.us/collections/collection I find these quite cool. Don’t know how long they would hold up though. They purport to plant a tree for each sold. —Dallas
Got the two beds and the bookcase built in record time, two days. It help that the customer will apply the finish. I finished them up on Saturday just before time to go home. Until I can post the project, here is a link to the videos and building pictures (click here). (at the bottom of the page) For more building pictures see my Current Projects link at wwbeds.com or poggyskids.com. See what we are doing live: <div></div>
