A trip to Scotland, MaFe meets JamieVisiting my friend Jamie Speirs. This is a short picture story of a wonderful travel I just ended last week.First a visit to Ireland and then Scotland. The blog will be followed up by blogs about projects I did as I was in Scotland. My sister is married to an American General Consul and they are stationed in Belfast, so when I decided to go and visit her, I contacted our LJ buddy Jamie and asked him what he thought about me coming for a visit on my way...
Isn’t it nice to have a friend visit? And it is even better to have a visit from one of the most talented from Lumber jocks! We (actually I do a lot of watching) have been making Momma happy with some new cabinets to store medical supplies for our son that is bed-ridden. My family life has improved due to his generosity. We do a lot of visiting and have several neighbors over to enjoy his company too. The neighborhood is finding him just as much a part of their family as we have. Two yea...
Yesterday I dropped over to Bribie Island to deliver the Bribie Woodies [Bribie Island Woodworkers Club], a longer arm for their Torque Workcentre… and had an opportunity to meet some of the members and look around the club room and workshop… as well as their two wood stores… The club is set up in a picturesque woodland area behind the Community Arts Centre… very peaceful….most of the time…Plenty of trees and a nice breeze blowing in from the ocean.. Ver...
Last Friday was special day for me. A fellow Lumberjock and his girlfriend, dropped in on us for a visit. David (FaTToaD) and Meredith went back east for the holidays and came home loaded down with goodies. We had a good visit (for my part anyway, I couldn’t shut up long enough for him to say much) lol and it was a pleasure meeting Meredith. Note to David; She’s a keeper. When he left, he gave me some Tupelo gum boards to see what I thought of them. When I figure out what I want to ...
The Traveling Lumberjock #4: Trenton, GA (Not far from Chattanooga, TN) - July 28, 2010 (w/ pics this time!)
NOTES: A lot of interesting stuff on this trip so I’m breaking it up into separate days. If you want to see the high res picture, click on the embedded picture and it will open a new browser window with the full high res version. This trip has been REALLY cool. There were a few issues, like my luggage not making it here. I guess I was due since this is the first time in five years of hard traveling it’s not made it to my destination. I’ve had it get delayed coming hom...
I got to meet a couple of LJ members last night from Auburn, WA and we had a great visit. I got in contact with Topamax and we decided to get together for a visit right away. Not long after I got to his house, another LJ member showed up. Topamax had called a couple of other guys and one of them, Studie, was able to make it over for a visit. We talked for quite a while. Not only do we have a common interest in woodworking, but we all have our own business and work in the trades. There w...
Jay came for a visit today to see my shop and talk wood. The Alvarado LJs have now had 100% attendance at both their meetings. It was fun to talk shop, tools and wood for a while. (Even got a few thoughts about the Boyz!) It made for a great afternoon.
LJ member Dave Mitchell and his wife stopped by tonight. Dave, also known as Splinters, lives in the far northwestern corner of Montana in West Glacier. That is at the western gate of Glacier National Park. He and his wife are traveling to the midwest for a visit with family and they had to come right by my place in Billings, MT. Since I live just spittin’ distance off the freeway and the KOA is just down the street they decided to stop by. Dave is a real Montana kind of guy, a...
Well, my fellow Alvaradotian (Alvaradoite?), Tim Marko, just dropped by a couple of hours ago. He’s probably not even home yet and I’m posting about it. Tim’s a nice guy and some of the projects he brought over to show me are just wonderful. I should have taken photos of those! Anyway, I showed him around my shop, my office, showed off lots of candle holders and wine rests, and we talked a lot about where to buy wood in this area. He seems to know a lot more about buyi...
