Well, its going to be a long afternoon and evening as I am excited to “press on” and start my first veneering project. I am going to veneer a small panel as an experiment to see how the process works. I purchased a couple of veneer packs on sale at Rockler to use in my experiment. This first panel is 1/4 inch MDF hardboard veneered with movingui, a hard wood from Africa using TiteBond Cold Press Veneer Glue.
Veneer – A thin surface layer, as of finely grained wood, glued to a base of...

I wanted to add to the mitre gauge posts. Wayne posted a photo tour of the Jessem System, and David posted initial impressions of the Kreg System.
The incra 1000SE is seen here in the Incra Miter Express sled. Both are available at Woodpeck.com You can see the kerf where the mitre sled straddles the blade in the tablesaw allowing for the cutoff piece to be coplanar with the workpiece. This decreases the chance of the saw flinging the cutoff piece back.
The Incra guage is adjutab...

Hi Folks,
As promised, a quick tour of the Veritas Mk.II Sharpening System. In the video I seem to use back bevel and micro bevel interchangeably. This is a mistake and is due to doing these videos at 1am when I should be ”sawing logs,” in bed. However, here it is…

I am fascinated with the mortise and tenon joint, as well as, frame and panel construction. The most current issue of Fine Woodworking set me off on a path to add pegged joints to my frame and panel quilt chests. I like the look of the peg and appreciate the extra strength and longevity that a pegged joint will add to my projects.

I wanted to put a bolt through the stretchers in order to tighten up an seasonal slack that might occur with this bench. The perfect thing to do, (perfect only because I thought of it,) was to use two dowels for anti-rotation pins and then put a bolt through the stretcher. This is just a short blog entry today.
This video is how I used Dowelmax to align the stretchers to the base.
In part IV of this series, I’ll discuss the top of the bench, and move on to the skirt and vise i...

Oops..posted this in projects by mistake….here it is in blogs.
Last minute…no editing…..not that you wouldn’t be able to tell.
OK…I figured that I would make you all feel good by comparison. My shop “workshopette” my wife calls it, is about as small as you can go and still call it a shop. I do manage to build some fun stuff though. The morris chair is underway and a stand up paddleboard paddle for my brother is going to start soon.

Nothing like getting it done at the last minute… This was a new thing for me since I’ve always just shot still photos. I learned a lot and scratched my head a lot too. Since I did it with a small handheld camera rather than an actual video camera, I learned about editing to make one movie. The video snippets themselves are not heavily edited except for transitions so the speaking audio is raw. See if you can keep count the “umm…” comments. I did add some music as...
