136 days ago by Todd A. Clippinger | 65 comments »

Throwin’ My Hat in the Ring… Hey everybody, I just entered the DIY Network Studfinder contest. I hope that everyone will check out my video, give me a vote and post a comment. I will need all that I can get! I have seen some of the personalities that submitted and I was motivated to throw my hat in the ring on this one. It can’t hurt! Just think – I could be saying “Share the Love~Share the Knowledge” on the DIY Network! The video is bare-bon...

Attempting Live Feed From Shop

140 days ago by Todd A. Clippinger | 60 comments »

I am trying another attempt at a live feed from the shop with ustream. It has dropped off several times but seems to have stabilized for the last several minutes. I updated my Adobe Flashplayer to see if that would help. Here is a link to the project that I am working on: http://www.flickr.com/photos/toddclippinger/sets/72157618830672749/ Here we go-

Wood Magazine and American Craftsman Workshop

144 days ago by Todd A. Clippinger | 60 comments »

The latest issue of Wood Magazine (Issue 192-Sept 2009) is just hitting the mailboxes and will soon be at the bookstores and magazine racks. On the cover is Norm Abram, but on page three, listed in the index is a mention for my joint testing video! They also printed an image captured from the video. I am honored and excited about being chosen for a mention in Wood Magazine. I plan on doing more videos in the future, but they take a lot of work and I have my own business to run so ple...

Shop Safety #3: Caution, Very Graphic Video

464 days ago by Lee A. Jesberger | 59 comments »

Hi Everyone; First please note, I’m not trying to beat a dead horse here, however I am trying my very best to get every lumberjock to use a splitter, and much better one with anti kick back pawls. Even though we all use the table saw all the time, and it never happened before, and we’re extremely sure of ourselves, just keep in mind it only takes once. It’s a chance not worth taking. While looking around the internet I came across a video taken in a hospital Emerge...

Shop Skills #2: Card Scrapers the Video!

333 days ago by Todd A. Clippinger | 52 comments »

It’s Finally Here! I have completed my first feature woodworking video. This video shows how I sharpen my card scrapers. It is a simple process and I kept the instruction simple with some close-up video action. I hope this post goes smooth, it has taken me all day to figure out how to finish up the video and 3 attempts to get it online. So this is a pretty big moment. I can work on polished video later but I have to start somewhere. I hope that this video on sharpening ca...

634 days ago by Gord Graff | 50 comments »

Hello All, Here is part 2 of the Pine Hall Mirror project and if you think I never make a mistake when it comes to building a project, you’d be wrong. I made a minor one here on this project and I’m going to show it to you with the hope that you don’t make the same one. I’ve also finished this project with my all time favourite finish for pine but you’ll have to wait until the end of the video to see what it is. I hope you’ve had as much fun watching this project as I have presentin...

Scraper Video

739 days ago by Blake | 49 comments »

There has been a lot of chat about card scrapers lately so I thought I would take the opportunity to post my first video! Now I am by no means an expert at hand tools. I am learning a lot as I go. But I found something that works for me. My hope is that someone who has never tried a scraper will see how easy it is and give it a go. This amazingly simple flat rectangle of metal always seemed so mysterious to me but it is so simple once you get the hang of it. Many difficult or highly-fig...
