Although I made great strides yesterday, I am still not quite at the finish line. Sometimes things are just like that.
While I anticipated that I would be done with drawing this new set of ornaments yesterday, I just finished up the sixth piece last night and I was tired and had to quit for the evening. It was about 9:30 and I had worked on them most of the afternoon and my eyes just couldn’t take any more.

Good evening LJ’s,
It has been a while since I was last on here, not much to talk about been chasing down leads and coming up with some work but nothing big yet !!! Today I was roaming a different Lowe’s and found a queen Anne Leg 19 7/8” in length for only $20 really? found out from reading the carton made in China !!! By now you have had some time to practice cutting inside and outside corners. While getting nice sharp corners is really important to your scroll working, one of the signatures of traditional fretwork pieces are the graceful curves and swirls that you are able to cut with the scroll saw.
In Victorian times, fretwork was cut either by hand or by using foot powered pedal saws. It was a delicate and painstaking process and took years of practice to master and accomplish.

Here’s how it went.

When I was slabbing it you could definately smell the walnut but it was different from the Claro and English.
These have great dark black lines that are marbled. Beautiful white sap wood and hart wood.

We have just invested in a Legacy Artisan 5 axis Milling Machine. Still learning learning it but it is fairly easy.
The working deck is 72” x 24” and has the ability to turn tapered spindles.It is fun!
