08-31-2015 12:03 PM by Sheila Landry (scrollgirl) | 3 comments »

I truly believe that I am very fortunate to live in a time when we have so many opportunities available to us via our computers. Not only does it allow us exposure to parts of the world that we may never be able to see, but it also is a great resource for learning new skills in ways we never thought possible. Last year, I was invited to teach a class in the program "Art Play Date 2015" which was organized by a wonderful teacher (and my friend) Kelly Hoernig. Kelly came up with ...

Vintage Tools #1: For The Love of Tools!

03-08-2013 12:53 AM by dj1096 | 2 comments »

My love of wood I owe to my Great Uncle Albert. I have a picture when I am about 4 helping him in his shop. He loved wood but was not a very “fine” carpenter. For him you could never build it to sturdy with more wood and of course this was reinforced by more screws. I loved what he exposed me to but decided I wanted to become the best carpenter I could be and that would mean finding a teacher to help me reach that goal. I met a luthier when I was about 12 and was all to happy t...

Woodworking Knowledge #3: Etching Brasswork from Using Photocopies of Anything!

04-25-2008 03:14 PM by flink | 2 comments »

Hi There! I for one, really like the way brass looks with a rich background of mahogany or dark oak. I also love engraved brasswork. Boat building #1: In need of spiritual applicant with free plans

09-27-2009 06:08 PM by threehands | 2 comments »

Hello all. I am in need. A need to fill the void. The void is an empty spot. The empty spot in an area of the shop I haven’t seen in years. There actually is a floor under all that “junk” as the bride would say. (I say golden treasures.) But, what I need now is spiritual help and a set of free plans for a drift boat or dory. I know I can build one, just need the plans. Have looked and downloaded several but cant find ones concerning a Montana style. Those guys craft some s...
