My First Box Attempt

627 days ago by icemanhank | 9 comments »

Hi there, I have been doing bits,n pieces of woodworking for years now and after recently finding this site was inspired by ‘Don’ to have a go at making a box. I have unashamedly been using one of his boxes as a guide because I love the look of it. I joined my local woodworkers club ‘Hawkesbury Woodcraft Co-operative’ and the guys there have been really helpful and supportive, there is also a really good array of equipment and materials to use at the club. I h...

Pipe Stand #2: Calm Before The Storm

643 days ago by Operaman | 6 comments »

Well, time has slipped away and it has been too long since my last blog post. In the interim, thankfully, work has been keeping me hopping and have gotten small projects out of the shop. Also the bandsaw and I had a disagreement and the bandsaw won the day. Thankfully no major damage was done and in a few more weeks I’ll be as right as rain. I have finally finished the poplar mockup and tommorrow the “real thing” begins in earnest. I made all of the changes that I not...

Figures 1 and 2 below show CAD models of the old and new refrigerators and are a result of a high resolution print of the screen contents of Creo Elements/Direct Modeling Express. Since the refrigerators were white, the backgrou...

Veneer Press #1: Homemade Veneer Press

649 days ago by Julian | 3 comments »

I made this simple veneer press in preparation for a project. The veneer press is similar to a couple I saw posted here on L.J. I don’t have any spare room left in the garage so I wanted a veneer press that could be easily disassembled and stored away and would not take up any floor space.
