So, yesterday the shop was flooded, veneers floating around all over, jigs all became trash and machines all wet…We spent all monday carrying hundreds of liters of water. On a happier note, i finnished all the 400 pieces of Honduras mahogany veneer for the table project.Today i will lay a test parquet to see if it gets tight enough.
This is the first post about my latest project, a small sidetabe. The Originals where made by younger students as there 2nd furniture. Here are the plans: The project is plit into two parts, a paquet and the table itselfe. Im working on the parqet for now. At the moment im building some jigs for cutting veneer into the herring-bone pattern. The first jig is done, one for ripcutting the veneers and a mock glueup of veneers are done. More to come!

Practicing marquetry for my next box. It’s been awhile for me, so figuring out which style and color of veneers to use can be the hardest part, just getting started. This design took me about three weeks to come up with and will to be used for the top of a Gem Box that I am working on. Cutting out the Pearl and Abalone and inserting into this practice piece top was a little time consuming but very enjoyable. Using basically the Window Method, cutting out the sharp corners where th...
Check out the finished product here. Thanks for following along.

You can see the post related to the parchment table there Top as been veneered with old brown glue, my favorite liquid hide glue, shaped and sanded and I did straighten the edges for a nice clean fit. I have ben playing with steam bending. Russ Filbeck lent us one of his steamer. I used a PVC pipe to dip my cherry moulding in dyed black water to soak them through ...
This is Jalen’s interview on The Highland Woodworker. His interview starts at the 19:20 mark. I need to make one disclaimer. Jalen was not on the cover of Fine Woodworking. That image was a gift they made for him as a souvenir when we toured their office last summer. You can see more about his projects here. You can’t appreciate this toy unless you see it in action. I hope the link works. It’s my first ever youtube video and the first video ever shot on my iphone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JclY0Ho9dC8&feature=youtu.be I started tinkering and playing with this idea a couple of years ago and just decided to take it back off the shelf. The kids might not want to put their video games down long enough to try and master this simple toy but I would set the age range from 6 ...
