rain and parqet..

So, yesterday the shop was flooded, veneers floating around all over, jigs all became trash and machines all wet…We spent all monday carrying hundreds of liters of water. On a happier note, i finnished all the 400 pieces of Honduras mahogany veneer for the table project.Today i will lay a test parquet to see if it gets tight enough.

Education #1: Side table part one.

This is the first post about my latest project, a small sidetabe. The Originals where made by younger students as there 2nd furniture.Here are the plans: The project is plit into two parts, a paquet and the table itselfe. Im working on the parqet for now. At the moment im building some jigs for cutting veneer into the herring-bone pattern. The first jig is done, one for ripcutting the veneers and a mock glueup of veneers are done. More to come!

Last time I posted on that project I was steam bending my mouldings. The columned were veneered in a previous post. Since this post we had another job to do a video on veneering column with Liquid Hide Glue that we posted on our Old Brown Glue playlist on youtube. Practicing marquetry for my next box. It’s been awhile for me, so figuring out which style and color of veneers to use can be the hardest part, just getting started. This design took me about three weeks to come up with and will to be used for the top of a Gem Box that I am working on. I had some more time to work on my table before to be really interrupted by the parcment job. You can see the post related to the parchment table there Top as been veneered with old brown glue, my favorite liquid hide glue, shaped and sanded and I did straighten the edges for a nice clean fit. I have ben playing with steam bending. Russ Filbeck lent us one of his steamer. I used a PVC pipe to dip my cherry moulding in dyed black water to soak them through ...
