Hi Everyone;
I just got the go ahead to build a 17 foot dining room table. This going to be challenging, as it has three pedestal bases, which are heavily carved, have some japanning and gold leaf, in addition to veneering.
The top will be veneered, include some marquetry, have a couple leaves, which will be stored in table structure.

Exciting Progress..
I am making some great progress on my closet project. I currently have the copper rods in a machine shop where the parts are being fabricated.
The clients and I had talked about changing the lights to better illuminate the fine work that I have produced. While the metal work is being done I decided to go ahead and install the new lights.
WOW!

It’s been a while since I posted any projects, so I figured I’d better do so before you all forget my name.
I previously posted a Library stair unit, and this table is the accompaning piece of furniture to that.
The client needed a conference table, but he also wanted a workbench, as he was prone to dismantel his computer occasionaly, in name of improving it.

Finished!
Well it’s been a long journey and it did not end without one extra push.
I finished installing the copper handles Monday by 11:30. There was a couple of scratches but I was certain I could buff them out. This is a skill that goes with the territory. I worked on the finish for the next six hours and I could not get the finish to blend.
How to Remove a Scratch-
After exhausting all other options this is what I resorted to today:

I’m working on a new top for the sliding hatch on my sailboat to replace the $136 piece of medium bronze acrylic that I sat on the other day…. Crack !!!.... This time I cold molded a curved panel from 3 pieces of 1/8” cedar on opposing diagonals and decided to make it appear to be a solid mahogany hatch. This would be difficult to press with either my screw press or clamps and would require substantial jigging to vacuum bag so the obvious answer seemed to be to hammer it. Of...

Getting Closer…
Well guys I can hardly stand it! I am getting so close to done on this project and yet there is so much to do. I just want to go home and be with my wife and my dogs so bad.
This job has been a nail biter every step of the way. The more I get done, the more work I have at risk if I should screw up. A mistake could cost the equivalent of a good used car – NO KIDDING.

Another Milestone
I am pretty excited to share with you guys today’s progress. I got all of the handle pieces finished!
Next I have some touch up on the doors and the final install. I am sure I will have a full day of technical sweating.
I had to brush the pieces again on the wire wheel to brighten the finish. I then hung them from the ceiling and wiped them down thoroughly with acetone. This strips any oil from the surface.

Well, this is the last of this set of video episodes completing my first run at a veneering project. The panel turned out great and I am looking forward to exploring other wood species. This was a lot of fun. Trust me, if I can do this right out of the gates, anyone can!

This very large, commissioned credenza was designed as an entertainment center to sit below a big, wall mounted, plasma TV. It is 76” wide 24-1/2” deep, and 34” tall. The cabinet and base are all solid walnut and the doors are bookmatched walnut burl veneers both inside and out.

I just got back from the Baltimore (Timonium) Wood Show, and as I was walking down the last aisle after visiting with LJ member Chuck Bender. I noticed this gentleman sitting on a stool doing some strange things with wood.
His name is Geoffrey Noden. Geoffrey in the man that has his name on the Noden AdjustABench It was in his booth that his wife was looking after the Adjust a bench and he was sitting at a stool in front of this tool.
