Recovering wood from discarded pallets

04-10-2018 07:56 PM by DaveFFMedic | 6 comments »

LOML asked me to make a pallet wood accent wall in our kitchen. I set to task of recovering boards from discarded pallets. I searched around and didn’t find any definitive information on the best way to disassemble the pallets. I did some trial and error and found the quickest way for me to disassemble them. In the following video, I show how I took apart the pallets in about 2 hours time. Enjoy. https://youtu.be/ZEX7xrofNHg

I ended up with a lot of footage, so I am going to split the video up as needed to the time manageable. In this video, I start my new project which is a tilt-out wastebasket cabinet. As usual, I start out with rough lumber, so much of this first video is about preparing the stock. Need to Joint a board that is wider than your jointer? I cover that in this video as well. Kid Friendly Project- A Garden Tote

08-02-2013 12:40 PM by A Slice of Wood Workshop | 2 comments »

This project is a great way to get the kids involved. They can do most of the machining, definitely the sanding, and then they can get creative with the painting. This is made with 2 used fence pickets/panels that are 5’ long. They sell new ones for $1.50 at the big box stores. This take only a couple hours to make (including paint drying time). Please like, share, and subscribe to my YouTube Channel.
