Here is the completed lamp it is 70” tall with the lamp shade 21×19 at the base it weighs 60 lbs The lamp shades are handmade. I do not make them a good friend of mine makes them for me. She does an excellent job.
Here are progressive pictures as I am inlaying turquoise in the lamp.
The turquoise being inlayed in the base
I got the limb 100% sanded, my husband is inlaying turquoise in the base, next we will drill the holes for the cord. The dark spot you can see on the base is where we applied sanding sealer, there is a bit of rot so this helps harden the wood and it also keeps the glue from staining the wood when we inlay the turquoise.
Here is the other inlay table that we have been working on. This one is inlayed with turquoise from Arizona, the top is burled cottonwood, and the base is juniper, we had to add an extra leg for support. It was finished with Bullseye sealcoat and satin polyurethane. 18 1/2” tall 43” long and 24” at the widest points, the top is 2 1/2” thick.
After an extensive learning process with inalying stone and dealing with punky wood, we have finished our table. This table stands 19 1/2” tall The burled cottonwood top is 2 1/2” thick, 42 1/2” at the longest points and 30” at the widest points The cottonwood top and base is finished with satin polyurethane, the juniper pedestal is finished with polycrylic. We have fninshed the first step in the Turquoise inlay process, I was really surprised how the color really pops out. We are waiting on our sandpaper to arrive and once it gets here we can get these tables completed
