just wanted to thank all you lj’s for your encouragment and support .this site has fullfilled a long time dream of mine ,to get back to my artwork .i work allot streetside , and it’s mostly that , work !from cement , framing ,drywall , to roofing . some fun stuff at times .i have been retired for 2 years now , but knowbody seems to know that ( especialy me ) .mostly i am the lifeguard at the carpentry pool , when all the hot rods have been fired or quit ,and the client is broke , ...

Drill two holes in the fence . one a little larger.. to take 1/4 ” bolts . Mark these positions on the base and drill these holes to attach the fence to the base. One bolt is held with a nut and other with a Knob.[for adjustment in fine tuning the fence if necessary].

A few months ago I had read an article about ebonizing wood with steel wool and vinegar. Awhile back I tried this and absolutely nothing happened. I never even tried again. Ebonizing is a stain of sorts I guess. I also have heard there are several ways of doing this. now i am glueing down the inlay , using west epoxy .the problem being that i don’t like puting things ,( like bricks , paint cans , bucket s of sand or water ) ,and i dont have enough wood to make cauls .so back to an old trick i learned in the fiberglass boating world .
as i think in a vacuum , it’s only natural to work in one too ?

Hello
A few years ago … maybe 6 or 7, I bought a box full of curly maple rejected guitar blank backs from Gibson in Nashville. Pieces are miss matched bookmatches, less then 3/8 thick, imperfect offcuts, 6 to 9 inches wide and about 18 inches long. Nice looking wood. Does this count as recyled ? I made sometihing I’d like to enter in the contest and wanted to ask first.

I think I went into this overconfident in my abilities. How hard could it be to cut out a simple notch in a board??? Fairly hard when your attitude exceeds your ability.

An Opportunity to Share
While creating some detail mouldings for cabinet doors and drawers, I realized this would be a great opportunity to share how I handle these smaller pieces.
Simple But Safe
