I’d like to invite you to a brief tour of Brezno – nice small town in the heart of Slovakia where I’m living now.
Let’s see what Wikipedia has to say about Brezno’s history:
“The place has been inhabited since prehistoric times, but the current town arose from an old Slovak settlement, next to which newly arrived German miners erected a typical square market in the early 13th century. The first written evidence of the town’s existence is dat...

A New Toy For Work:)
I just got a Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS6 for recording my work. One of the great things about it is that it has a 25mm wide angle lens. This is makes it great for taking pictures of my installed work in small rooms.
I thought that taking photo & video of the shop would be a good test drive for it and a good way to share a tour of the American Craftsman Workshop.
This video was entirely shot with this camera (except for the photos of the camera itself:)

(I haven’t done this style of blogging for awhile. With so many new LJ’ers now on this website, I’ve figured most of us don’t want to see these long-winded-folksy style, non-woodworking, rambling, style blogs anymore. But, this is a story about “Hot Air”, so I’ll let a bunch out along with the photos.)
This blog could easily be subtitled: ”Facing Your Fears with Hot Air.”Read on further to find out why.

Hi Lumberjocks!
This is the High school that I got my first formal training in woodworking.
This video shows the most popular features of the school.
It’s too bad it doesn’t show the fabulous woodworking shops. They had every tool plus industrial sized machines.
It didn’t only have woodworking, but Machine shop, Welding, blacksmith, sheet metal, electricity, foundry, Drafting,
& Aeronautics. That’s about all I can think of now.
I just thought of s...

This week Ms. Debbie P visits the shop of Lee A. Jesberger
Lee is a professional woodworker, inventor, entrepreneur, and a model Lumberjock. He has prepared several blog series including some very detailed entries on vacuum clamping, veneering, jigs and fixtures and tool-making. He maintains a website with a vast array of tutorials :http://www.prowoodworkingtips.com/
Here Deb takes the readings on a positioning jig to hold work steady during carving. That is one swell post he is working...

Te Wai Pounamu, Aeteoroa- the Maori name for the south island of New Zealand. New Zealand consists of 2 islands roughly the same size but with 3 million people on the northern, slightly warmer island and only 1 million on the south island, the south island is clearly the winner in terms of beauty, wilderness and variety.
We currently divide our time between two places : Christchurch, the largest city on the s.island with roughly 60% of the entire population living in this area, and our f...

Well, here goes!Boy was this an interesting process. I don’t own a video camera and so I had to use the built-in iSight on my MacBook. That means that I had to walk around holding my laptop, trying to watch where I was walking, balance the computer in my hands, think, and chew gum all at the same time!
I purposely didn’t tidy up the shop prior to filming. 1) I was taking a break from a project in process and 2) well, this is probably its “natural” state. Hopefully ...

Wow! I made it, I finally made it, and oh what a surprise to find a museum with Iconic Furniture pieces intermixed with a lot of European, Asian, Native American, Egyptian, and some strange Contemporary Stuff that someone else calls “art”.

WARNING: If you are easily offended by my silly notions of what looks good and is well built, please don’t read any farther. I’m just giving my opinions, that is what ...
