Guess Who Is In The Latest Issue of WOOD Magazine:)

109 days ago by Todd A. Clippinger | 20 comments »

Check it out! The current issue of WOOD Magazine (May 2014, Issue 225) has a good article on designing projects and building prototypes. The article contains 6 points on the process of taking a project through the design and prototyping, to a finished project. The staff at WOOD Magazine asked me to contribute information on how I design and use prototypes. For the article they ended up using a picture of me building a full-scale cardboard fireplace for a client, and a key quote for the ...

Design Article for WOOD Magazine

330 days ago by Todd A. Clippinger | 15 comments »

The October 2013 issue of WOOD Magazine is now on the stands and inside you will find my latest article. One of the most frequent questions I receive is how do I get inspiration for my designs. This is also a topic the editors at WOOD Magazine get requests for, so they asked if I would share a page on how I get inspiration for design. The topic of design and getting inspiration can actually become a pretty lengthy topic and a very complex one which can easily fill a book. But we boi...

In my last video I did a review of the Dust Deputy and showed how effective it is. This prompted several people to ask me about what size shop vacuum is necessary to work with the Dust Deputy. So in this video, I decided to explore that question and share the results with you. Even if you are not planning on using a Dust Deputy, you might find the information helpful in your decision to buy a shop vacuum. If you have not seen how effective it is, check out my previous video where I r...

New Site Going Full Speed Ahead

497 days ago by Todd A. Clippinger | 4 comments »

Hey everybody! First I want to say thanks for all the feedback I got from everyone. Especially for the many comments that came to me via the Contact form from my site. It really helped knowing that it worked and people were taking the opportunity to use it. I took many comments into consideration and have adjusted the site according to some of the suggestions, especially in making changes that should make the pages load faster. I still have a lot more to add to the site, but I have a...

Hey everybody! I have been very busy between working on my client’s projects, squeezing in a project for another contractor, and rebuilding my website. As if that wasn’t enough, I decided to shoot a video to share with you what my favorite tool is for scraping off dried or semi-dried glue as I worked on one of those projects. I am really excited to bring another video to the woodworking and DIY community, so I hope you enjoy and find it helpful. Your friend in the ...

Exposure in Thrillist.com

A Web Of Connections You never know the connections that might be made from being in a show, exhibition, or getting published. It seems like it is never is a straight line in arriving to that point nor where you may go from there. It is more like a spider web of connections and interconnections. Since being included in the fine woodworking exhibition at the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman, I have all sorts of emails and contacts that have come my direction. One of them was from the exe...

Showing at the Museum of the Rockies Fine Woodworking Exhibition

619 days ago by Todd A. Clippinger | 22 comments »

I was invited to show at a fine woodworking exhibition at the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman, Montana. The show is currently going on now and running 3 months until Jan 27th. There is a total of 25 woodworking artists showing and I am very honored to be counted among them. They are certainly a group of high-caliber artisans. There are also two other LumberJock members also showing at the exhibition – Andy Chidwick and Scott Morrison. It is pretty cool to think that 3 LumberJock ...

A Rough Day Shooting Video

878 days ago by Todd A. Clippinger | 42 comments »

It Ain’t Always Easy… I have been pretty anxious to get out more video, especially after all the effort I have invested in the infrastructure for creating better videos. Well things did not go smooth for this video. I started out by setting a record for the number of takes to get a clean 1st scene. I don’t know why my mind really kept dropping off. (I have a lot of crap rattling around up there.) The next thing to happen was that after I got rolling on the video rec...

Showing With The Rogue Gallery

1088 days ago by Todd A. Clippinger | 8 comments »

Going Rogue! One of the things that I highly encourage woodworkers to do is to show their work publicly at any level that they can. It is a great opportunity for growth as an artist and business person on so many levels. I recently had an opportunity to share my work and portfolio at a local showing with the Rogue Gallery. The Rogue is a different sort of art gallery as the name implies. First of all, it does not have a traditional gallery store front, it is a roving gallery that set...
