I’ve had a fancy for a thicknessing sander but a 10-20 inch model costs the equivalent of $1000 US over here and there’s no way I can justify that sort of spending so I looked into making one of my own. There’s no shortage of help to be had on the world-wide-web. The links I found useful include:

Story:I have been working really hard to tune up my bandsaw lately. I really wanted one of these:...for tensioning and detensioning the blade. But I am at the end of my budget and can’t spend another $150. I had seen pictures of a homemade version in a magazine and decided to make my own.

Since I have installed the Delta T2 fence on my Craftsman tablesaw, I have had a few people asking how I installed it, especially, how I installed the fence so that it would zero properly. For those that are thinking about installing this fence on a craftsman, you WILL have to drill new holes in the rails. You can use one of the existing holes, but you will not be able to ‘0’ the fence.

A few months ago I had read an article about ebonizing wood with steel wool and vinegar. Awhile back I tried this and absolutely nothing happened. I never even tried again. Ebonizing is a stain of sorts I guess. I also have heard there are several ways of doing this. Hello All,
I had wanted an RV for years and I had finally settled on a travel trailer. Well we had a tent trailer for a number of years but they were just a lot of work to put up and take down so we began thinking of which kind to get. So among the few shotcuts that were made by providing the R4511 at the market price was the fact that it only came with a splitter+integrated blade guard but no additional low profile riving knives (for non through cuts). for the price this saw comes at – one can’t complain, and the fact is- it does have a riving knife mount system which is a good base to start with.
solution: homemade riving knife made out of 1/8” plate of 6063 aluminum:

A couple of whiles ago when I posted my lumber rack, some of the LJ’s inquired about my panel jig. I figured that if I ever needed to replace it, then it would be right to blog it for you.
