Can you imagine all the teak and brazilwood and mahogany and brazilian cheery and santos rosewood and …. that are in this picture of the Amazon (rain forest not .com) The people hear burn teak for firewood. Where is my chain saw. Of course as a resposible member of society I have to say save the rain forest but man what some of you could do with that wood (especially if it was fi...
Recently I purchased a Steam Bending Kit from Rockler Woodworking and Hardware so I could try out some Steam Bending. Bending wood is something I have never tried before and is out of my comfort zone. I wanted to dive into this area of woodworking and challenge myself as well as learn something new. So of the various forms of wood bending (Laminated Bending, Milled Bending, Steam Bending) I chose steam bending to be my first attempt. The kit I purchased included the reservoir, hose, and so...

I offered a couple weeks ago to try to do a tutorial on how to make a coffee cup like this. The above is teak, it’s composed of 15 separate pieces. You build it like you would a barrel, just smaller. So, to start you need to find something that will work well as an interior sleeve, I’m partial to stainless so I keep my eyes peeled for any candidates when I’m out and about. I’ve found these work wonderfully and are cheap. Here is one out of the box. The real...
