While it isn’t quite done, I’m about 80% complete with the companion chest to my tool cabinet. The carcase is completed and together, the back panel is done and ready to mount, and the drawers are all cut and dry assembled. I need to finish sand the drawers and glue them togther. Some coats of finish and drawer liners and it will be ready for tools. Should add some bonus shallow drawers to what I have already. The drawer fronts of the chest are figured maple to match the top d...

Well, after milling the stock and making a new tenoning jig for the table saw I was ready to cut the tenons on the aprons of the table. The jig was worth the effort and I was able to do a first dry fit of most the table parts. There’s more info in this post on my blog along with pictures of the new jig and the process. Take a look and thanks for reading!

Yesterday, I posted a taper jig project. The taper jig was used in my entry for the 2×4 Project. Before the taper jig was made, I had to locate a 2×4 to use. This was relatively easy. I knew a local lumber yard carried very high quality Douglas fir dimension lumber for use in finish work. I located a completely clear, tight grained 8’ board. The only downside was it cost substantially more than the typical big box store stud. Oh well, this is for FURNITURE, not being st...

Well, I started working on my 2×4 project today. Last weekend I picked up a bunch of 2×4’s at Lowes to construct a new lumber rack, with 1 to spare for the contest. I was a little afraid that one 2×4 wouldn’t be enough to complete the project, but it looks like I will have a few scraps left.
I cut some of the pieces today, 4 – 18” long pieces have been jointed and edge-glued together to form one plank (needed it to be a little longer than what is r...

Click for Hi-Resolution Video
Woodworkers throw away your roller stand once and for all!
My last Ezee-Feed video was a bit of a teaser as I unpacked and started the installation process. Well I finally got the Ezee-Feed system installed on my saw. What a sweet accessory! I have a very small shop. This system allows me to cut sheets of plywood without any help. As a side note, my saw guard was left off for clarity while shooting the video . . . something I would not do on a regular ba...

I had a couple hours to myself on Sunday. So I took advantage of the time and “upgraded” my table saw.
A couple of weeks ago I picked up a feather board at Hartville Tool. I know I probaly could have made one, but that’s not the issue here.
Anyways, back to Sunday. A couple of quick cuts and a few counter sunk holes, now I feel a little safer using my saw (or at least I will the next time I use it).
It was a little “mini-project” but still I feal I accom...

This is my old tablesaw fence. It is a little hard to see from the photo, but I cracked it trying to “micro-adjust” it. So I started to look for an aftermarket fence, of which there are some really nice ones out there. I just didn’t want to spend quite as much as they were asking because I have a previously owned Central Machinery tablesaw. I also was curious to see if I could come up with my own fence. I was worried about two things with most diy fence systems that...

My old crosscut sled sucked. I made it before I acquired a lot of knowledge, but I’ve been dragging along with it for a while. I did some test cuts the other day, and realized just how out of shape it was, so I decided it was time for a new one.
So here comes the Cross Cut Sled Journey!
I decided I wanted a fence with a T groove on it, s...

Just completed my Maple picture frame (posted in projects) and I sure learned a lot from it! The finishing really gave me a hard time, I think it turned out fairly well but would have liked it a little smoother.
On to my next project – a Mission style couch table.

Not one to participate much in blogs (actually this is my first), I couldn’t help but share this with peoplewho could at least appreciate some of the complexities of woodworking machines and the trials thataccompany them.
My family and I moved into a new house about 3 months ago. The house has a 3 car garage that is goingto be my new woodworking shop. In anticipation of the move, the day we closed on the property I finallyordered my long awaited table saw (replacing a very old Craf...
