I received a call this morning from Keith July, he was going to try and get us a free space for our gathering and has done so at the JOHNSON’S WORKBENCH in Charlotte. It is almost centrally located in Michigan. JOhNSON”S has offered us one of their warehouses to meet in. They have tables and a grill/ So if it is OK with everyone we thought we would make some dogs and hamburgers on the grill and maybe the wives could whip up a dish. I primarily make small woodstuffs (my name keychains being the most popular) and I feel really guilty buying a large board of some beautiful exotic or domestic hardwood and then hacking it up into pieces that I can use. I feel that the board should go into a fine piece of furniture.

As you all recall, We have been granted the use of the Lexington Woodworker’s Guild for our LJ Picnic Event. I still would like to present them with something in appreciation of the gesture – but am not sure what – any ideas?

We’ve been all over the United States – DE, VA, FL, GA, KY, IL, MD, PA, NY, NH (whew!), MN, WA, CA and TN! Wow! We had a super-quick turnaround from Matt and some really cool stuff added.
He did a great write up on his takes and puts as well as some projects he did for the swap. If you missed it check that out here. I’m looking forward to getting my grubby hands on some of the wine barrel wood, I really enjoy turning wood with a story to it!

We didn’t even need to use a jump to get this one to its next destination! A quick trip across Washington state and the box will be in the hands of jimp. Jim is ready and waiting…
After that we drop down into wine country to visit Napaman, then to rb765 in SoCal before heading beck East to jeffthewoodwhacker and dropping back to Atlanta! We’ll get this thing completed after all. :-)
