Some photos of my workbench slab after getting a friend from work to help me move it from my upstairs apartment living room into my garage. (Well, actually, he just heaved it up on his shoulder and carried it for me. I’m SO out of shape! Thanks dude! I did make him a good deal on one of my 75” walnut slabs though, so it worked out well.) My new favorite plane is this Stanley No. 7 – it might have something to do with the fact that I have been surfacing a couple of laminated tabletops recently. I think I’ve been using an inappropriate size plane for the job and this is the first time I’m using the right size. I have found though that even for slightly smaller jobs, the sheer length and mass of the plane is very useful. Will I reach for a 7 instead of my 5? Probably, if I can fit it on the piece!
