Ok here we go. If you look back to the Beginning most of the walls were up but still lots to be done. This first shot is ater the exterior was completed, my litle truck and my other pal, Ivy. Overall size 24’ x 36’ with a full second floor. Two oversized doors 8’6” x 10’ for deliveries etc. and lots of natural light with oversized windows. My wife and I unload the trucks and push the wood up to the second floor. The next shots are of the second f...
A guest on the show Dale Meiners shows us how to achieve a high gloss clear coated finish. This is a process and a rather lengthy one too.
We continue on with the build and get our dados sorted out.
http://charlesneilwoodworking.com/project_store.php Note there are other free videos available at this link for other projects. This is worth checking out. Videos on build projects and pdf files with patterns for some.I also siigned up for his weekly paid program when it first started and have learned much and enjoyed having a woodworking show to watch each week with details, not just highlighting a project.
This is a bike I’m making for my daughter, it still lacks the finishing touches, like final paint coat, and the lacquer. The seat and the wheels we bought, everything else is water resistant plywood, screws and birch wood. The body of the bike can be flipped up side down to achieve greater seat height. Well it finally wamed up enough around here to do some glue ups. I got my feet made and glued up, and attached them to the base. Good thing I got busy in the shop yesterday. I also went to Clark’s for some secondary lumber. It must have been my lucky day Saturday!! When I arrived at Clark’s, first thing ...
When it comes to building boats, I guess after 30 years of it I am a professional, but as a hobby woodworker I’m pretty new. Boatbuilding has given me lots of skills and abilities with tools but the scale of projects and the individual manual skills required to make small cabinets and art furniture are totally different. I am a real beginner at this stuff and am having a ball trying to learn everything at once. I retired five and a half years ago, following which my wife and I rebuilt o...
Having the bulk of pieces, cut and sanded, I elected to tape and pre finish most of the components. Finishing large projects is a huge challenge for me as I work in a 3 car garage and can not easily spray stuff. Since I was finishing many large panels, I decided to try applying the clear coat with a floor roller. Since I like their other products, I decided to use a Zinsser water based poly. It worked as well as brushing does, however, the coats go on thick and you need to watch the rol...
Well I got an HVLP sprayer from Harbor Freight. Kicking myself in the butt cause I havent gotten one sooner…several weeks of work, in several hours…sheesh… anyway here are some pics for you….. Right now I am spraying dewaxed shellac. I am trying to decide whether I will need to topcoat with poly or not…
