Well today I went out and bought myself a good respirator to use when spraying paint and lacquer.
Then after getting back home I went out and put some mineral spirits in my new spray gun and set up a large piece of cardboard and went to adjusting and practicing. I think I have the air adjustments very close to what needs to be when I actually start spraying the lacquer. I will just have to spend a few minutes adjusting the material flow once I get real lacquer in the gun.
I also fiddle...

Thursday I spent most of the morning researching for a spray gun then did some sanding and got what I have done so far ready to assemble.
Friday I got some small things finished up getting ready to make the final push to complete the outer case for the bed.
Before going out to the shop I confirmed my order for a new HVLP spray gun and it should be here by the first of the week.
I then attached the frame structure to the face panels using construction adhesive and screws.

Here it is delivered to house. It takes two people to carry each stump and six men to carry the top up the stairs and into the house. I sure am glad I was the one taking the pictures.
The measurements on this table are 81 1/2” x 44” and 31 1/2” tall.

The guy that purchased this table has a 600 lb granite top. So we had to make something large, sturdy and yet attractive.
The cottonwood came from the K Ranch on the Colorado Utah border in Dinosaur Colorado. And yes it is seriously the name of a town.
Here is the rough material. each stumo will sit on a base, the base it not necessary, it adds to the beauty

Well, I was considering what to put down in digital ink next and decided on a few different things.
I wanted to talk about the guns that I use first.I have six guns in use at any given time. Sometimes I have multiple projects all with unique colours.
I have one good quality gun. It’s a Devilbiss with a 1 litre cup. I also have a Lemmer and the other four are low quality Husky brand from Home Depot. All my guns are gravity fed and have 1/2 liter cup except for the Devilbiss.I...

Well, we are making some progress on the two coffee tables that we are working on. This is after it has been leveled, the levelers/slides have been added and all the rough edges have been rounded and shaped. Today my husband is sandblasting then tomorrow we should start the final and longest phase… sanding and polishing
This is the part that we cringe and hope we stay in line… dont want to end up with an extra short coffee table
Whew… right on line and ready to f...

I feel the need to mention something before I go on here.
This is my first online community experience, I’m so enthusiastic about sharing experiences and gaining knowledge from others and my main purpose is to correspond with people of like interests. The reason I bring this up here and now is after putting up the first finishing blog post I had time to reflect and think. I don’t want to come across as a know-it-all so I’d like to point out that my finishing experience is...

I’ve been thinking about what I do for a living and how I came to the level of finishing that I’m at. I’m what I would call a Modernist Finisher. I use whatever I can to make my job more efficient, cheaper and pursue better quality. A lot of people will say that these three things don’t go well with each other and I guess that’s true for some things in life. What else is true in life is balance and with proper balance the finishing process can be all of these...
