This is my half size prototype made entirely out of pallet wood (besides hardware).Finish is home made chalk paint with a wax finish (shabby chic) – the finish doesn’t photo very well but I am very happy with it, it came out the best I have been able to achieve so far. This size is perfect for DVDs etc. (I did a more thorough write up but the text disappear after I uploaded the pictures for some reason).
In trying to keep my workshop organized and clutter free so I can work at my bench without having to search for tools, I found a definite need for somewhere to keep my power tools besides in their original boxes. Their original boxes keeps them organized, however, it makes them less accessible and frankly a pain in the rear to unpack and repack the tool each time it is used. Also the original boxes take up a lot of storage space when you have a confined space to work in to start with. ...

Don’t want to jinx it by gloating too much, but coming into the end of my most satisfying accomplishment yet. Building a trophy/plaque/award in honor of a lost friend. A last minute thing that had to be ready to go Sunday morning. Tapped the bullpen and called in the old man, who introduced me to Rockler where I found two pieces of walnut crotch that I said would “make do.” Sanded. Stained. Somehow, put a perfect edge on the base with the router; didn’t screw up the...

Here is my attempt to build an affordable wooden 4 drawer filing cabinet. I rule out: Plwood, as it is way too expensive in Australia for anything but the most expensive style of furniture.MDF, I built a single draw prototype and, even when using frame construction, it was way too heavy.Melamine, may be a good choice but for this project I don’t think it looks good enough.Solid wood, as it is too expensive. My current choice is to go with premium (knot free) pine and pine panel...

Well it’s been a couple weeks and the bitter cold snap has slowed the progress a bit.. but here’s the progress since we last met. I wrapped up the Toddler Rail joinery… voila! And surface prepped the walnut for finishing with some P220 on an ROS and P320 by hand. I was originally planning on just using my #4 and skipping the sanding (as much as possible) but I chickened out… I brought all the dowels home from Dad’s shop to my cozy (and down right CO...
