Beauties of Wood
....i am the breeze that carouses through your veins of wood, where in the distance my imaging gives freely to any who taste, taste and see that ‘just as’ i am likened with life at dusk, so ‘just is’ the assurance also that come my dawn i will be therein….
—-how many ways can i speak of the beauties of wood, where out of the classroom of my workshop i bear forward to an engagement, i am enabled to continue this romance that so cap...

It seems that every year we get a cold snap here in the San Francisco Bay Area, and I always like to take that opportunity do do something that I do not often get to do: complain about the weather!

Surrounded by Wood
Yep it’s coming, just as the squirrels are gathering their nuts, I’m busy bringing in this seasons winter firewood, to be ready for the long drawls of snow that will soon be gracing the land.
So the other day found me out in the woods….hmmm, doesn’t about everyday find me out in the woods? Well so be it, there I was cutting up some leftovers on a part of section that had some blow-down and being around 4:00 or so, a rock wall grabbed my attenti...

Still Surrounded by Wood….
....even after some multiple snows. And so life is good, living and working out in the elements of all seasons, while giving back to the wild of the land, some thoughts on imaging that have of recent days come my way.
I had stated in my last blog story that the time of green picture images had come to an end, as I was being shifted now to a time of posting over the coming months, pictures of white granular icy snow. Snow falls following the downward pull...

Yesterday turned out to be a good fall day. I had the south facing doors open for a while in the afternoon. With the sunlight and lack of wind the shop stayed comfortably warm even though the outside temps were cool.
But this is what we look like today. The forecast is for a high of 25°F and tonight it is predicted to hit 9°F. The wind is blowing pretty good too.
I am definitely not ready for this.
Dang.
Take me somewhere that I can leave the shop doors open and the dogs ...

Yesterday while talking about snow, & added my carved moose antler project, it was brought up about me working with different kinds of material. I’ve also worked with steel. I mentioned the department I worked for groomed snowmobile trails. The department allowed me to design, & fabricate a machine for smoothing, & packing trails. I built two of these machines. Here are some images of the machine.
PS: Wood is still my favorite material.

When I awoke yesterday morning, I thought I was dreaming. It sounded like rain drops on our roof. Sure enough, it was raining like crazy. That was at 6 AM. About 2 hours later it started snowing, & we ended up with a little over 4”.
This morning our back yard looked like a fairyland. Here is one of the images.
HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE !!!
