No longer waiting for winter.....and my first anniversary!

491 days ago by jbschutz | 8 comments »

Well, winter finally arrived a couple of days ago…..6 inches of snow and -2 degrees F. Not so bad, but I was getting used to the idea of skipping winter this year. On a more pleasant note; I just celebrated my 1st year with LJ. I have enjoyed being a part of this great group of men and women, craftsmen and artists, with a common, yet diversified interest in things wooden. I have “met” so many great people in the past year and have even managed to meet a couple in person.Th...

Endless winter

763 days ago by jbschutz | 5 comments »

Just when you get your hopes up; the weather man says we are in for another dose of winter. I sure hope he is wrong, but he is predicting 6-10 inches of snow for SE Minnesota, Tuesday into Wednesday. I actually put the snowblower away and got my boat out of storage a week ago. Foolish optimism, I guess. If this is suppose to make me appreciate spring more….....

Snow in the Lowcountry.

1192 days ago by Ryan Fenters | 8 comments »

I havent seen snow that stuck to the ground here in The Lowcountry in SC since 1989 right after Hurricane Hugo. But this evening we got about 4-6inches on the ground. Pretty Awesome if I must say. One story from tonight my 3yr old wanted to build a snow man. So I tried to throw something together and she said “Daddy, that looks like a snow turtle, and I was like I’m sorry I dont built these often”.

I Am NOT Ready For This

1319 days ago by Todd A. Clippinger | 39 comments »

Yesterday turned out to be a good fall day. I had the south facing doors open for a while in the afternoon. With the sunlight and lack of wind the shop stayed comfortably warm even though the outside temps were cool. But this is what we look like today. The forecast is for a high of 25°F and tonight it is predicted to hit 9°F. The wind is blowing pretty good too. I am definitely not ready for this. Dang. Take me somewhere that I can leave the shop doors open and the dogs ...

"The Beauty of Wood Ashes" --by RusticWoodArt

1882 days ago by frank | 5 comments »

The Beauty of Wood Ashes ....study the volume of my wisdom, and know for a certainty that i am of your texture, texture’s of ashes as written on snow, page’s of snow that bring forth the beauty of wood ashes…. As I ruminate upon the art of finishing….and wood projects, all set to be-come abstracts of ‘wood art’, I often pause to catch a glimpse of what it means to touch the ‘soul of wood’.... ....’soul of wood’, into...

"The Language of Wood" by RusticWoodArt

The Language of Wood ....and so i step out of my walled in universe, to view the collective aspirations of the many other’s, who after working throughout the long hours of night, are also standing ready to greet the powers of coming dawn…. —-what is this sound within the confines of my head, that causes me to gather at the sound of a mornings landscape, to view the coming revelations of many hand tooled creations, along this forest of well endowed tree formations…...

"Resplendence of Wood" --by RusticWoodArt

1907 days ago by frank | 7 comments »

Resplendence of Wood ....oh the beauty of a sky filled with wood, where meeting together on my plane of vision, i re-tell the art of having made more then meets the eye, this is the respect i give as i give you wood…. —-where is the time that passes while living with wood, what is this moment i behold within my head, why stop and stare since this moment is all-ready past, how much pause can my heart infill with the desire of wood…. ....my likening is found as wr...
