The other day I griped about early bidders on eBay – that post got more hits and comments than any other I wrote here. One great byproduct of that post was finding out what other people use to snipe eBay auctions. But first, a paragraph for the uninitiated (those who need to be taken on a snipe hunt).

My grade school arithmetic left me with some rather incomplete lessons in the basics. I learned yesterday that 8 / 4 is not equal to 2 in the real world.
I took my rough-dimensioned ash over to a friends shop yesterday to get some time on his 8” jointer and planer. As we began to surface the slightly more than 8/4 boards, it quickly became apparent that I was not going to get the thickness on these boards that I had hoped. Well for starters . . . I just spent 10 minutes typing this blog . . . and I lost it. ARGG . . . must be the Snipe.
I patiently (year right) waited 4 weeks for my poplar to acclimatize itself to the north atlantic environment and started the first part of my project late yesterday evening – a computer desk\storage unit for my Dear Wife (DW).
