This is a simple Blog entry to post a couple of concept sketches for a Walking Stick design that I’ve been asked to build.
The Blog Format is an easy way for me to post the sketches for a client to look at, and saves sending out large sized emails.
The other positive side of using my blog this way, is that others that follow my work can see new things I’m getting ready to do, and it also introduces new folks to my work.
I wish I could demonstrate to my LJ buddies my exper...

Aginst my better judgment, someone convinced me to set up at a local festival-craft show. The last couple of weeks we have been working hard getting ready for the show at Riverfest at Leavenworth. I was thinking that after the show we would be able to slow down and mellow out a little but, I think not. I got so many orders for signs that the next few weeks will be a bit hectic again. Well not “so many” orders, I think it was 10 or 11 but some of them want more then one sign. I ...

WARNING! Reading this blog and watching the included video will take 8-10 minutes of your life that you will never get back!
Bob #2 and I were meeting up last Saturday to attend the Edmonton Woodshow.
The show had offerings from Delta, Hitachi, Steel City, General, Dewalt, Lee Valley, Lie Nielsen and a mixture of local guilds and arts and crafts distributors.
Overall, the show was quite good. There was lots of machinery there and Bob and I were able to meet up with Jim Lindsay, inv...

Yesterday, after our bonfire breakfast (6:30 AM with our family, sitting around the fire laughing, eating), Rick and I headed to Toronto to the Woodworking Machinery and Supply Expo.
Over the past year Rick and I have attended quite a few woodworking shows in the region but I have to say that none of them have been like this one. First of all we had to have a special badge to enter. At the entrance door you had to show your badge AND they had to check it with a digital thingymajiggy to che...

Next weekend (Sept. 29th) Rick and I are headed to the Woodstock Wood Show. This wood show is supposedly the largest one held in Canada. And that’s pretty cool, since it is local!
I will be talking with some of the company representatives as well as drooling over some of the tools and watching some demonstrations.
Are any of my fellow Ontarians going to attend? I think the plan is to go in the afternoon, since I’ve heard that the crowds are smaller then. Also, I’d lik...

Show Time
I was excited about the show/contest and woke up early (again). We jetted down to Cerritos Community College. Judging had begun at 8:00 in the morning, though we arrived at 11:00 for the barbecue, show tour, raffle, and prize announcements.
The Welcome Wagon
Each guest was provided one raffle ticket and a ballot ticket to vote for People's Choice award (Worth $1000)
We anxiously walked towards our project.
Yes! We learned they had been very liberal with the turn in ti...

Hello everyone. Well, I’m not really big on the blog thing. Just a personal issue on my part. But this group is all about wood working and helping eachother in our craft.
The craft show season in upon us and I have been very busy making things for the show. A very simple shakers bench, nesting tables, mosaic tile table, a charging station for cell phones and other items and if I have time, a shaker shelf. I like the shaker style items for the craft show. Made simple and out of pine w...

Between a crazy work schedule and the Hocky Play offs my workshop time is suffering. Any other NHL fans out there? Any favorites for the Stanley cup?
I’m hoping to spend some serious time at the Woodworking Show this weekend. It is here in Sacramento starting tomorrow. Hopefully this will give me some additional inspiration to get back to work on my projects and I will not spend too much money on gadgets. I’ve purchased a couple of items that have not been used since they ...
