The final act…
Buffing the final coat of finish is the moment of birth for a project. After that it is carefully wrapped and delivered to start its’ life with family, friend, or client.
One part of the woodworking process that most of us don’t figure in is the photography. I can tell you from experience that this a very important part of furniture making. It is not an option if you are planning on doing woodworking and furniture as a business, be it full or part time....

Well, I have three flood lights (but no bulbs yet) and one two-tube flourescent. Finally I have electricity! I have found that if I start working out there at about 10 in the morning, by 2 in the afternoon, I have to take a break to rest my back. Then after supper, I’m ready to get back to work. So far I have made a “scooter” to help me get all the heavy stuff out there. I’m going to tackle the drill press and maybe the lathe tonight. How glorious it will be to see...

The Gen’l Contractor says that I can start moving in, even tho we have not had the final inspection. He had to have the plans redrawn because I moved the doors and windows. Then he has to have the plans stamped by the city before he can call for the “dry-in” and the final inspection. The target date is Wednesday but he is concerned that the holiday week will cause delays. So, I can start moving in, I just can’t place any insulation or wallboard yet. But, I can sta...

The process has begun since the inspiration of a previous blog crossed my vision. My woodworking buddy “Sarge”...who is multi talented has supplied me with a preliminary drawing to use in the planning process. I have two projects to finish before the actual works begins, but to talk and think about the up and coming adventure will keep me focused on my objective, the good news is if you find my dream boring all you have to do is click me off…ha ha (sometimes LuLu is good at ...

This week’s tour is in Delhi, CA, just down Hwy 99 from WayneC and Bill Brooks. Lot of Californians on this tour. Could it have anything to do with the advancing winter in Canada (and Nebraska for that matter)? I expect more Midwesterners to step and volunteer for a tour!Ron is a roofing contractor who has annexed a 20×30 foot area of his 40×60 metal building for a wood shop. The rest of his building is reserved for his business as a roofing contractor.
Here Deb takes note ...

I just posted my first pen on my project list, and I mentioned “setting up my turning station.” Here’s the steps I go through, just for everyone’s amusement. As you recall, my shop is quite small – to use my table saw I have to roll it into the driveway. Everything is stacked up on everything else when I’m not using it.
The first picture shows my workbench in its normal state of being a storage unit. The big blocky thing leaning up against it on the left ...

The last two months or so, the shop has been a mess. Partly this is due to not having a place to put all of my lumber but the bigger part is I have had no place to put the larger equipment. Recently in one of the woodworking magazines they built a shop cabinet that housed the same type equipment I was trying to organize. They built it with spruce and peg board. I had some left over melamine (melamine that just happened to match all of the other cabinets in the shop) so I went to work with a d...

This week’s visit is to Blake's shop in Santa Cruz, CA. Blake is a part-time firefighter and student, who eventually wants to fight fire full-time. He has been a member for only twenty days, but burst on the LJ scene with his claw box challenge, and has been active in posting boxes, jigs and blog topics since signing on.
He has a great shop with a host of good tools, some new and some handed down from his Father-In-Law. And he has posted the rehabilitation of a 1959 Dewalt Radial Ar...
