I have a small shop, about 200SF. It’s not as small as it once was, about 90SF, and it’s not as big as what I hope to have some day, about 600SF. To keep from climbing over things and make it easier to move things around to accomdate the operation of the moment, I thought I would adopt the “everything on wheels” strategy and double up what tools I could in single cabinets.

Here is a set of monumental doors I just picked up for a song!
I mean these puppies are huge! I really want to meet the burly guys who installed them hehe.
They measure over 8 1/2 feet tall over 3 feet wide and the rails and stiles are 5 1/4 wide 3 1/2 inchesthick. Solid oak for the rails and stiles and the center field is curley birdseye Walnut. Seems prettyobvious its veneer but wow. Nice!

Well there have been times when the man of the house needs to have some space of his own, Could this space be the den or maybe some unused corner some where in the house I think not its the garage for you. The garage now has a new name its “the shop” out with the garden tool out with the bag of old cloths, the shop has a new purpose to build a shed for those garden tools and maybe make it big enough for that bag of old cloths. Hi all,
I’ve been very quiet recently so I wanted to give a little update as to what I’ve been doing. As you all know, I make carved screen doors primarily. Because the doors measure 36×80 this does require a bit of shop space for negotiating the door. That shouldn’t be a problem considering my shop is my 28×40 basement but….If you’ve ever worked in the basement you know that it has a whole series of problems including no windows, shabby lighting ...

Friday, 04.11.2008… I’ve been attempting for a while to get started in transforming my half of our small 2-car garage into a usable workshop. I started on this shop building project shortly after I retired.
I’d like to show you what I’ve accomplished so far.
My garage measures 20 X 24 feet, & I wanted to partition out a shop area.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~In order to have a shop 8 feet wide, I had to resize my garage door from 12’ to 9 ‘

I can hardly believe it…the end is near. I have begun painting the inside of the shop and after much hassle (OSB and paint do not work well together) I am just about to finish this project up. The first paint I applied looked good the evening I applied it, but when I went back out to the shop the next day to admire it, you could hardly tell it had been painted at all! I moved recently and i got some more place for a shop. I am getting some new tools etc to outfit it, slowly but surely!
I saw on craigslist a 8 gallon(i thought it was a 4, but i’m not complaining) RIDGID wet/dry vac for 15$i called the guy and today i went to check it out. it works great, and it has a nozzle and hose. just a bit dirty but the suction is good.WHAT A DEAL!
does anyone know any attachments that could help it be a makeshift dust management system?

Well, since it’s been awhile since very much progress has been made, I figure I’ll give an explanation…We had a major ice storm here at my house on January 26th and were without power until February 17th. Needless to say that pretty much killed my work on the shop for over three weeks. What’s worse is that I am off for 3 months during the winter and that little storm all but killed nearly a whole month of my vacation:( Since the power has been back on I have gotten back into the shop and am w...
