Well to start I pulled 2 old hand planes outta pappy’s garage and thought I would bring em home and see what I could do with them. At first glance I was about ready to just leave em and go to lowes and buy one of there cheap ones they offer well only one they offer for like 20 bucks or something. But I didn’t instead I came home and decided to clean the one up a bit and the larger one wasn’t too awful bad. Your opinion may differ but this is what im working with at the momen...

Now that the sides are sized and cut to length, it is time for cutting feet and marking up to get ready for dados, rabbits and dovetails (dados, rabbits and dovetails, oh my! Sorry Dorthy.).
The feet of the cupboard are cut into the sides and two lower front stiles. Notice that the “front” foot is slightly narrower than the “rear” foot. This 3/4” difference will be made up by the stile after it is attached. I drew the shape I wanted on some scrap 1/8”...

I was at a wood show and there was a demonstration buy a vendor selling Norton Wet Stones. They has a kit of 4 stones, a flattening stone, and angle guide and a little jig for holding your chisel or plane iron all for about $100. He made it look so easy. I was sold. I got the stuff home and for some reason I was a little intimidated. Matts Basement Workshop did a video on sharpening so I watched it a couple times to pump myself up and off I went. My chisels are some old and abused a...

I started with a drawing to determine dimensions for an inlay on the top face of a table leg. After I was happy with the drawing, I carefully laid out the dimensions and cut the recess 1/8” deep. Most of the...

This is a satisfying little project that many of you can make in your sheds/shops/garages. You may find when you are nearly finished that you sneak in a little test…..make sure you do finish the project from then on. Happy woodworking.

I couldn’t stop at just making big drawers. I had to get all fancy and divide the top drawers into smaller drawers. I don’t really have as much to say about these pictures but I hope you guys enjoy them.....This first picture is really blurry but the rest are okay........Lengthwise, they are divided into thirds.........Same steps as before… Plow the dovetail groove with a router by hand, then make the sliding dovetail part on the table, just like the last blog...........Ta d...
