The weekend was quite a blur. It seemed that just about every waking moment was spent working on the four new trays. As with most projects, it seemed to take a bit more time than I had anticipated. This wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. It would only be bad if they came out crummy. I am happy with the results (so far) and in the home stretch on everything.

I really made good headway yesterday. Today I am in the home stretch of things and it is going to be really fun to see all four of these trays come together at once. I have never really done four at a time like this, but since they are all kind of different styles, it is rather exciting.

It was a full day of fun and excitement yesterday. I even got some work done. I like days like that because even if I don’t accomplish everything I want to, I made a big dent in the list and it makes me happy.

I would like to know if anyone has a better method of filing and finding scrollsaw files on your computer. For about six months I hadve been dumping them into a folder called Scroll Saw Files (how cute). Steve Good posted a neat way to preview the files as you scroll through them – works OK. Do you guys files them by type, design or some other method. I would really like some input here before I get any more out of control.

After seeing all the fine scroll saw work on this site I wanted to share some pictures of a bowl that I acquired from a consignment shop where I sell furniture and other things that I build. First off let me be clear, I DID NOT MAKE THIS BOWL. I contacted Martin and he said this was the place for it, just credit the author. I do not know who made this bowl.

Well, the cats are still alive. When I awoke this morning, all the electronics seem to be working. Nothing was chewed. No one got sick on the floor (that I have seen.) The water dish was only dragged slightly from its normal place, with only a little water spilled. It’s going to be a good day! :D
There is another 4-5 inches of snow on the ground this morning (more flurries!) and it is really looking pretty outside. I need to go to the post office today though to mail out an order....

Today is already one of ‘those days’. Within the first hour of getting out of bed, I already found several mishaps that I had to deal with.
First of all, I came to my computer to read my mail and I noticed my Wacom pen tablet wasn’t working. At first I thought nothing of it, as the USB plug sometimes pulls out a bit and just needs to be pushed in. But that wasn’t the case. It is interesting, to me, that once I have started this process now everything includes some element of the scrollsaw. My sister-in-law needed a new 4” x 4” mail box post. You know, simple get some 4×4’s and half-lap them together or purchase one of the ready made kits.

I spent most of the day yesterday cutting out the two new candle trays. I can honestly say that it was quite a pleasure to do so. Many times people say that they wouldn’t want to do woodworking for a living because it will take the fun out of it. I can see their point, but for myself, it is an extra bonus to be able to get paid for doing something that you absolutely love to do. I suppose that is why I am here. :)

After a little reading I have run across the name of Dirk Boelman, “proably the most talented and productive designer and developer of fretwork patterns today”. You can do a Google search and find lots of information about him or go the The Art Factory web site and see (or purchase) his patterns. as I continue to research and resource the area of Victorian Fretwork it seems that there is a lot in good information out there.
