This blog is to show my progress on what I call my “crowning achievement”. I cannot post it as a project yet as it is not yet complete. When completed this will go on a posterboard backing, and go into a custom made frame approx 3’ x 4’. A little back story: This project is being made as a gift. When I was 9 my mother was diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma (for those that dont know, that is a horrid cancer). I went to a catholic school at the time, and the pri...
Had I not been laying in bed in pain from overdoing it yesterday at my home construction site on what had already started as a high pain day, I would have been much more excited when Woodcraft called to tell me my saw had arrived. I got a log cabin kit delivered out at my property yesterday. Center-cut oak beams with dovetailed corners to build my new house, but that’s a whole other story. Anyhow, I finally got to go pick up my saw when my friend who’s carrying the loan got off...

It’s a cheap Harbor Freight saw, but it comes with a decent supply of blades, the original box, the paperwork, and a sturdy stand. I good friend of mine pounced on it when I offered it to him at $45. This money will go directly into guy pal’s pocket to start paying off my new saw. I was going to put it on Craigslist for 50, but I do still have lots of fond feelings toward this saw. I made...

I bought a book by Diane Thompson on Scroll Saw Box making about a year ago. There was a design in there entitled The Tree of Life and thought I would give it a go. I had some 1/4 inch Walnut and some thicker (approx 1 1/2”) Tiger Maple that I purchased from Raven’s Farm that I decid...
