Well, it’s finally here, the first installment of my discussion with fellow LJ member, Scott Morrison ~ Finewoodworker (he looks much better in person than in his avatar.) I had a great time talking with Scott and I hope that you enjoy sitting in on our conversation. I must admit that I thought of many more questions after I left Scott’s shop. That may be enough excuse to get with Scott in the future for another session;) In the first installment Scott shares his background in ...
Workin’ My Butt Off! Guys – I kid you not, I have a full plate and I am getting up early and working late everyday. But it is very exciting as there are a lot of things going on behind the scenes. The economy must be getting better because I am getting calls and jobs like I normally should. It actually started early this year too which was a mystery to me but a welcome one. I have added 9 more detail photos and information of my shop at my new site on the Shop page. So yo...
My woodworker friends… Here is a brief video showing the steps involved in sculpting a Maloof Inspired rocker seat. I hope you enjoy seeing the dust fly! Sculpting a Maloof Rocker Seat>
This is a small sample of my new woodworking project video, “Building a Maloof Inspired Sculpted Table.” Templates and video available for pre-order at finewoodworker.com. It is a totally new, and never before seen, type of video project (and pretty darn cool, if I do say so myself). Think Pixar meets woodworking. Completely 3D and presented with amazing details and animation that leave no room for error in your project. Everyone who has built one of my chairs (or any cha...
Hellofellow LJ’ers. A few years ago, Gerber Legendary Knives shot a TV commercial, and in a moment of pure lunacy, decided to include yours truly in the advertisement. The “tough guy” attitude shown in the video is pretty ironic, as anyone who knows me understands what a big baby I truly am. I once got a splinter and cried about it for 2 days (I can show you the scar, if you want). Enjoy the vid.
Thought you might enjoy seeing some outtakes from recent videos.Hey, if you can’l laugh at yourself, someone else will. !!
There will be an upcoming project for this, as with everything in the Maloof Inspired Library But make no mistake, this project will whoop your butt. But will be worth every drop of sweat, curse word and thrown chisel. Stay tuned for more…I need a drink…
Hey Guys! Since my last post about showing in the fine woodworking exhibition with my Frank Lloyd Wright inspired prairie chandelier, the Museum of the Rockies has posted the artists’ audio interviews online. You will find them at the Museum of the Rockies website. To hear an artist’s audio recording, just click on their name. Each person tells a little about themselves and the work they have on display. Here is a list of the artists I am showing with at the Museum of...
After reading Maloof’s book last summer, I ordered the DVD and templates from Scott Morrison, claiming the lowback to be my “winter project”. Now its (actually “they” as I’m making a pair) on the way as I officially have completed the first few steps: Glued the templates on plywood, cut out with a bandsaw and sanded to line: Milled, ripped, ripped to 3 degree angle, cross cut the seats: In fact, after sleeping on it a couple of weeks, went back...
I thought you guys might enjoy seeing my latest project, a rare Maloof shoebench. The DVD will begin filming soon, but here are the project pics… Thanks for looking!
