The most recent issue of New Mexico Magazine (April 2010) has featured our Black Walnut with Curly Cherry Rocking chair. This rocker was made for a woodworker friend of ours, to give to his wife for Christmas. The Black walnut came from an approximate 600 year old tree that was dead standing along the Hondo River, just outside of Ruidoso NM. Just finished up a Rocking chair class at our new place. We are calling them “Woodworking Retreats”, since they now include staying in a cabin with the class. We live in such a beautiful area, with lots to do, that it only made sense to make a few changes and add some more classes. This rocker class was a very intense 6 days, where the student takes the rocker home and completes it for himself. In this instance the gentleman flew in from VA to make a rocker for his first grandbaby...
