In this blog entry I’m going to demonstrate how easy it is to change blades on the Ryobi AP1300 Planer.
A quick read of the manual will tell you that all you need to do is remove the cover, lock the cutterhead in place by rotating it and then remove the screws with the included hex key. Sounds simple right…
Well here I shall demonstrate the actual process.
Step One, strip the included hex key on any screw you choose, grind it down with a grinder, try again, strip it again...

Dimming Eyesight:A hard topic for some of us, but as we enter our 40-something years, most of us notice some changes in our eyesight. Not the usual stuff we have seen happen in our 20’s and 30’s, that was easily repaired by a little stronger prescription glasses, but some serious changes.

On the weekend, I attended the Woodstock Wood Show (see blog entry for more information) and during my time there I had the opportunity to speak with a few company representatives – including Keith Potts, Trainer, from Techtronic Industries North America, Inc.

Where can you buy 1000 (full size) sheets of (nice, waterproof) sandpaper for $1.00? Those were the first things to go; I managed to grab 2 boxes in the frenzy, one box of 150 grit, one of 280… Need a sheet? let me know!
At 8:00 Saturday morning, Grizzly Industrial’s annual tent sale in Muncy PA opened their doors. I thought I would check this thing out, and actually got there 15 minutes early thinking I would take a look around before the crowds showed up at 10:00 or so…...

Well I finally decided to get rid of my one remaining power tool, a 2HP Ryobi router with 3 bases and a case of bits. Today I fired it up and ran it over a board with a few different bits just to test it out, and I probably created more sawdust in ten minutes than I have in the past six months with hand tools.
Now I see why you guys fuss so much over dust extraction! Man oh man.
