Shop Updates #3: Router Table #2

515 days ago by teenagewoodworker | 12 comments »

Well i got a good amount done today but not as much as i would have hoped. first i cut the slots for the t-tracks that will secure the fence. i ordered it and i don’t have it yet so i figured that i would cut the slots now so i can attach the router table to the saw and when i get the t-tracks just pop them in. now that everything having to do with the torsion box is completed (including the router being mounted, sorry no pictures) i will turn my attention to the legs. i just too...

Shop Updates #2: Router Table! (finally)

516 days ago by teenagewoodworker | 16 comments »

well unfortunately i will not be able to have the table saw station that i was hoping for but a router table is something i need so i am making one on the side of my table saw. i started by cutting down all the MDF with my cousin pat’s (Anthrax) help. then i started putting the torsion box together. it is all based on where the bolts are for my table saw and in the center fitted for the rockler plate that i am planning on getting in the future just i don’t have the money now. so h...

Shop evolution #4: Router Table #3: Putting in the plate and installing the fence...

534 days ago by ShannonRogers | 3 comments »

So I got the Mast-R-Lift in place and did some tweaking of the leveler screws to get it flush with the top. Next I needed to think about the fence. I know that I will be able to use my TS fence, but I have this Rockler fence floating around from my old drill press table. As far as I can tell, this is the same as their router table fence just a little smaller. I think it will work fine for my purposes and I can always modify it later if need be. Here I routed the channel for the T b...

Shop evolution #3: Router Table #2: I hate routing MDF!!!

539 days ago by ShannonRogers | 3 comments »

Let me just start by saying…I hate to rout MDF!!!! Thank goodness for the respirator, air cleaner, and dust collector. That stuff is nasty to cut, but routing it definately takes the cake on the least favorite things to do list. Anyway, when we last left off, I was about to install the table into the table saw. Because of the location of the hold in my TS rails, I needed to use screw inserts. I friction fit the router table into the TS and supported it from below to keep it...

Shop evolution #2: Table Saw Extension Router Table #1

544 days ago by ShannonRogers | 5 comments »

After completing the new counter top, my next step will be to breakdown the adjacent cabinet that I used to store my 13” planer and bench top router table. Eventually, I will store the planer on the bottom shelf of the workbench. I have been eyeing the Maste-R-Lift from JessEm for a while so I thought this would be a good time to invest. First I glued and screwed together 2 pieces of 27×20” 3/4 MDF and edge glued and biscuited some scrap 3/4 ash to the sides. Here i...

My First Router Table

572 days ago by DaveConry | 14 comments »

This is the router table that I have been working on. It has been an interesting experience in that this is my first attempt at building a cabinet and drawers. The cabinet itself is made out of 3/4” cabinet grade plywood. The end panels and back are aligned using #20 biscuits, and secured with glue and screws, while the center panels are set in dadoed grooves. The face frame was constructed using pocket screws and aligned to the cabinet with buisquits. The face frame is made from...

Yet Another Router Table Project #5: Back to WOOD working

586 days ago by ww_kayak | 11 comments »

After my slight diversion into metal working, I’m back to working on the wooden parts of the router table… Gluing up this face frame was pretty straight forward, however the frame is made from cherry from my own property, and that’s just plain cool :). Even though it has been air drying for a couple years, I have a feeling it still has a pretty high moisture content (no meter). This piece is quarter sawn and has some real nice ray fleck. Here again I was a...

The Router Table Saga #1: The setup

608 days ago by Mark Shymanski | 6 comments »

I’m finally setting up a shop in the east half of our two-car garage. I’ve got some rudimentary tools and even more rudimentary skills and a whole lot of enthusiasm and a very understanding Wife, so I bought a router to add to the 20+ year old fixed base B+D router I have. (I will have to write a review of the Triton 2 1/4 horse router when I’ve put it through its paces). Working on our dining room table a chair set that a buddy of mine was making for us I asked him abo...

Yet Another Router Table Project #1: Another Router Table

621 days ago by ww_kayak | 8 comments »

Well I figure I’ll introduce myself by sharing a new series to document my latest project… yet another router table ;). This one is… well, will be, a cross between Norm’s, chazmonro's here at Lumberjocks, and jasnance's over at Flicker. I liked the idea of trying a torsion box. I also like the idea of a vertical drawer to hang wrenches, inserts, and such. Yes I’m a newb (albeit and old newb), so if anyone sees any errors, or has any suggestions I’d apprec...
