Router Inlay Practice Question: How would you inlay a 2 inch wide compass rose veneer? It has a thickness of 3/32”. The techniques demonstrated by the woodworker in this woodworking video are basically just for practice. He is simply testing to develop a strategy for when it becomes time to actually inlay the compass rose veneer. Practicing woodworking in the shop is a great idea. Thank You Card #2: The Top Detail (This is good)

So now for the top detail. I didn’t really Expect to have it done by now but everything is going according to plan so i will start with the layout of the top detail. here is the picture of it laid out in pencil. I realized that is was hard to see so i outlined it in sharpie in order of the steps that I took so the next ones are in order of how i drew them. I purchased the High Torque Carver/Engraver item # 147235 from Woodcraft.com a couple of weeks ago. I received it on time, packaged well, and in good condition. I will say that once I opened the box and actually held the tool in my hand I was a little disappointed. I was lucky enough to buy it on sale for $44. Even at that price, it felt rather cheaply made in my hand. I had read the description very carefully before buying, because for one I already own a dremel. Which I have been having ...
