I’m not going to be able to write tomorrow so I am writting today. Now that you have your piece of wood picked out for your 1st spoon, let’s get started.
I am sitting here with a cup of freshly made tea, with the wooden tea spoon that I made last night. I really liked this little spoon. I took my time (1 1/2 hours) making it. The grain is very nice and it is especially smooth and soft to the touch. SO, I decided to keep it…...

I moved recently and i got some more place for a shop. I am getting some new tools etc to outfit it, slowly but surely!
I saw on craigslist a 8 gallon(i thought it was a 4, but i’m not complaining) RIDGID wet/dry vac for 15$i called the guy and today i went to check it out. it works great, and it has a nozzle and hose. just a bit dirty but the suction is good.WHAT A DEAL!
does anyone know any attachments that could help it be a makeshift dust management system?

A fellow lumberjock, “Cabinetmaster”, posted on the previous entry of this blog that he was sure Grizzly and their service department would fix this jointer issue for me. He couldn’t have been more right!!!
I called the service department this morning and spoke with Philip. I was prepped and ready for battle! Armed with good details, 30 or so photographs, and first name basis conversations with many of the sales associates I spoke to on Saturday. But Philip on asked o...

Hi everyone.
Well we have seen the mighty Grizzly! My mother-in-law, father-in-law, wife and myself all enjoyed a beautiful day in Muncy PA on Saturday. We met some good people at the Grizzly store…hello Jenny, John and Steve! They were all very helpful, both with tool selection and with locating a decent place to eat lunch. The store recently added on a HUGE warehousing division across the street from the main showroom…and I mean HUGE!
After much deliberation with John ...

A buddy of mine gave me this saw cuz he bought a brand new Jet for about $1k. He didn’t want this one so I went over his house and he showed it to me. Yup, it was old and heavy like he said but and I couldn’t wait to take it home to try it out. I own a Hitachi Job site saw and it work good for the price but this old one works better. It has a pulley and the motor starts and stops pretty quick. I need to update the vac port but other than that it is a nice find for free.

Well kids, It’s been a long time in the making but this weekend I’m off to the Grizzly Woodworking Store in Muncy, PA. I’ve been there once before, and I gotta tell you if you’ve never been, it’s a real treat! The store is huge and loaded down with tools. My father-in law (Grampa Knapp) is going, of course. He wouldn’t miss it, and I’m very glad to have something like this I can share with him.
And somewhere in all that loveliness is a jointer ...

I’m overwhelmed by the love shown in my last post in this series, asking if anyone was interested in learning with me (more like teaching me) about different woods, and the trees from which we get them. You were! I’ve found my people. Let’s get started! cracks knuckles
I thought I’d begin not with a tree, but with something very much related and interesting that I recently stumbled upon in one of my habitual all-night online woodworking research sessions: the IWCS, ...

This is some wood I got from a job that was on so valueable every scrap had to be saved for three months after it was installed I watched as it was sat unstickered in a east window rained upon, stacked upon, I saved it from the dumpster twice, kicked over and I would go over and restack it(I’m an electrician), lunch upon get this crap outta the way upon, and I would always say I’d love to have that wood I’ll get out of the way” We have to keep it it is valuable” ...

I am interested in hide glue for a number of reasons. The first of which is the “romance” of using a traditional method that has its foundations as far back as Ancient Egypt and the cabinet shops of Colonial America. I also appreciate the pace of using hide glue . . . slow while getting set-up and quick when applying the glue. I also like the reversibility of hide glue and the fact that it accepts stain and finish without leaving telltale glue marks like that pesky spot of PVA ...
