Hello All,
I had wanted an RV for years and I had finally settled on a travel trailer. Well we had a tent trailer for a number of years but they were just a lot of work to put up and take down so we began thinking of which kind to get. I would spend every waking minute, it seemed, pouring over craigslist and finding that RV prices were pretty steep even for the older ones.
During this time, my grandmother unfortunately passed away. As part of her estate I was granted a sum of money and ...

Hey everyone, It was suggested that I start a discussion on how to find and harvest burls. Please give your input also.
I don’t deal with straight grain that often. I cut and sell burls for a living so here is what I know.
It is illegal to harvest a burl without permission. of course if it is on your own property you can give yourself permission. What I do is put an ad on Craig’s list saying I want your burls. Most people don’t know what burls are. So you don’t get that many calls....

I found this saw for $20 today on Craigslist. It is a bit rusty and I need to replace the power cord and grease it up a bit.
Tell me if I bought a giant paper weight, or if I found a steal. The motor does run, but the cord has a bit of exposed wire.
I plan on getting rid of the rust, greasing the entire thing, giving it a fresh paint job and a new table and base. Well, here it is in all it’s glory, or gory… you tell me :)
Also, if you know what mode...

This is a continuation of #5 in this series.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have the slat wall paneling completed.
Now how am I going to arrange my tools? I bought the material at Lowes.
It’s 5/16” X 3 1/2” X 8’
14 Sq ft. in a package. Other big box stores handle similar products.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the last wall, I ripped my boards in half to 1 5/8”. I like it better this way. There...
These are the pictures after I completely took this saw apart, lubed it, removed the majority of the rust, repainted, and reassembled. All i have to do now is to finish hooking up the switch and this saw will be ready for a top.
Here’s a tell tale sign that moisture is doing a number in the walls of your newly purchased 5th wheel RV See how the awning bracket is pulling away from the siding? It was due to the water tank leaking for years and no one wanted to fix it. Here’s the result of the leak As you can see there isn’t anything holding up this back corner of the trailer, but the damage didn’t stop there. Here is the other side of the wall after I demoed the dinette
This was in additio...
The saw is on its cabinet. The cabinet is mounted on an HTC mobile base, and all alignments have been completed. I was amazed at being able to hold within 0.001” on nearly all of the saw alignments and adjustments. As the old saying goes, they don’t make them like this any more.
The cabinet is made of poplar plywood with cherry border trim. I wasn’t able to locate baltic birch. The trays are simple design that ride in slots cut into a hardboard skin. Simple but ...
The wife and I went out to a local flea market a week ago, looking for nothing in particular. This was the last flea market for the year at this particular venue and the first time we had been this year. I cam across a pair of saws, painted and looking sad. They had tags on the at $1.50 each. I was looking at them and wasn’t sure if I wanted to take on a couple more saws, when the proprietor came around and told me everything was half off. She said it was on account of wanting to cle...
