Tool Chest Refurb #17: A 'Feature' gets (Re-) Discovered

336 days ago by Smitty_Cabinetshop | 64 comments »

Not trying to convince anyone of anything here, but if you’ve read the series y’all know that I chose to install a sliding ledge in rehab’d tool chest as shown in an old chest drawing. I did it because when I first saw it I thought it was cool, and thought it was there to protect the bottom compartment from dust / debris when the lid was open. Trash to Treasure - Headboard

574 days ago by JSB | 2 comments »

From now on I think it will be easier to update the original post instead of making multiple posts in series. Video 1 is done and I will update as the project continues. I want to be able to point to a tree and tell him what it is. But as I’ve started trying to identify the species of wood that I&...

Opportunity #3: Reclaimed Wood

2585 days ago by MsDebbieP | 18 comments »

on Saturday, (following our LumberJocks’ picnic the week before), we had a bonfire breakfast at our house and my Aunt and Uncle brought us a gift— an old church pew that they had in a lumber pile. They figure that the wood is well over 100 years old. We have the bench part, and the back is still buried in their wood pile, waiting to be dug out. I have no idea what the wood is but it is nice and thick and really long (aren’t I good with measurements??). My favourite par...

Prospecting for Wood #3: Where have you discovered gold?

2645 days ago by Paul | 4 comments »

I’ve read of discoveries in the firewood stack in the backyard. I look among pallets and crates behind area businesses. ( I ask for permission before I take any closer look than a drive-by.) If you’re inclined in this direction, where have you discovered wood to reclaim?
