Blog Tags and Topic Tags are Here!

505 days ago by Martin Sojka | 17 comments »

Blog entries and forum topics are now taggable too. Tags are becoming more and more important as the content on the LumberJocks is growing exponentially. Essentially they are like descriptive keywords attached to each project, blog entry or forum topic. They help to make it easier for you to find the content you’re interested in. I’ve also redesigned the Tags page. Now it have three subpages – projects, blogs and forums. On each of them you can see the respective most pop...

Some Day I am going to.... #1: Whats on your mind? ....Dreams, Desires, Wishes, Plans, Projects,

272 days ago by Dusty | 39 comments »

Fellow Lumberjocks…. I have been part of several projects and had some very unique experiences. My woodworking, stained glass, and various other assortment of hobbies have certainly given me very rich and full filling experiences. I love what I do and am lucky for the most part I can do what I love. For that I am great full. In the back of my mind I am always thinking….(scary I know) about then next project, task, dream, or “honey do list” and what need...

So many great projects

393 days ago by TreeBones | 6 comments »

There are so many great projects that are posted each week I haven’t been able to look at and comment on them all. Is it just me that has a “to do list” that is sometimes overwhelming or does anyone else have a hard time making time to look closely at all the great work posted here. I guess that the need to keep the paying jobs moving forward make me feel the need to be in the shop staying busy or be out in the woods (or urban setting, San Fran next week) making lumber. When I d...

The latest Projects...

65 days ago by Todd A. Clippinger | 13 comments »

I posted my latest furniture projects to the LJ gallery before I put them in my own website, that just shows how you guys rate, but I did get them added to my site and they have many more detailed shots of the construction. You will find them under the heading “Current Events” in the navigation bar. I still do remodeling and my latest remodel project is posted under the same “Current Events.” It is not always just about woodworking, but it is always about design ...

86 days ago by Will | 6 comments »

Who among you has worked with boy scouts on the Woodworking Merit Badge?I’m looking for advice, counsel and how-to as my woodworking neighbor and I work with a small group of younger boy scouts to help them earn the merit badge. These boys will be 11 years old to 15 years old.I’m most interested in these things:—How did/do you organize the merit badge work, all in a single session of X hours OR in two or more sessions?—How do you determine which tools and which project...

Can't sleep tonight...

282 days ago by Sgt_Lobo | 13 comments »

Do any of you start thinking about projects in the middle of the night? Well, when I do, I can’t sleep. My mother was always an insomniac and I think I picked up a bit of it as well. If I’m not thinking about wood projects, then I’m usually thinking about work projects (I am a computer programmer when I’m not off fighting somewhere). Either way it always seems that I come up with my best ideas when I am lying in bed… The big problem is when I get ideas in my...

Christmas Building #1: Busy, Busy, Busy

302 days ago by DannyBoy | 1 comment »

Okay here is my quick update on what has been happening lately. My spare time has been sparse in the last week but I am almost finished with building a workbench in my basement for doing my hand tool work. I’m using the Bob Key plan which seems to be a popular basis for many of the workbenches I have read about lately. I’ll post more details and before, during, after shots when I have it completed. Just to tease you a bit, I am using the pine framing lumber do to money and availability ...
