As we all know, woodworkers are a prideful people. How many times have we toiled over a project, spending hours and hours just to get an “uh, that’s nice dear” from the spouse? Do they not realize the 4 hours I spent at the wood store to find that grain pattern? I’m sure you can understand…. That’s one of the reasons I see that we post our projects online. To have it evaluated (or at least appreciated) by our online peers here at lumberjocks is a self check tha...

Who among you has worked with boy scouts on the Woodworking Merit Badge?I’m looking for advice, counsel and how-to as my woodworking neighbor and I work with a small group of younger boy scouts to help them earn the merit badge. These boys will be 11 years old to 15 years old.I’m most interested in these things:—How did/do you organize the merit badge work, all in a single session of X hours OR in two or more sessions?—How do you determine which tools and which project...

For that I am great full.
In the back of my mind I am always thinking….(scary I know) about then next project, task, dream, or “honey do list” and what need...

There are so many great projects that are posted each week I haven’t been able to look at and comment on them all. Is it just me that has a “to do list” that is sometimes overwhelming or does anyone else have a hard time making time to look closely at all the great work posted here.
I guess that the need to keep the paying jobs moving forward make me feel the need to be in the shop staying busy or be out in the woods (or urban setting, San Fran next week) making lumber. When I d...

Blog entries and forum topics are now taggable too. Tags are becoming more and more important as the content on the LumberJocks is growing exponentially. Essentially they are like descriptive keywords attached to each project, blog entry or forum topic. They help to make it easier for you to find the content you’re interested in.
I’ve also redesigned the Tags page. Now it have three subpages – projects, blogs and forums. On each of them you can see the respective most pop...
