Finally, My Dream Shop #18: In Case Your Wondering......

291 days ago by Calgirl | 5 comments »

I’ve been hanging insulation and putting up OSB behind where the Cyclone will hang. We haven’t put the cone up yet because it would make it difficult to finish the wall behind. So tomorrow we’ll finish the cyclone and I’ll show pics…Mike and I decided we would brag on our professional job and offer to install anyone’s for the price of a plane ticket and a thousand dollars, plus a liberal expense account !! It has been a bear because of the way we hung it...

Greene And Greene Inspired Projects #2: Greene Inspired bench .... "From an amazing wood find" ...the story behind the projects

286 days ago by Dusty | 14 comments »

Greene Inspired bench …Part two… “From an amazing wood find” ...the story behind this After hosting an open house that was open to the public in my home “This Old Crack House”, which was a fund raiser for the local food shelf, I was approached and asked if I would build a Greene and Greene Entry Bench, by a lady who was in attendance. I explained to the lady, who later, turned out that she was one of the curators, for the local Historical Society here...

Building a MAME Arcade Cabinet

68 days ago by Greg Wurst | 18 comments »

MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) allows you to play old arcade games on your PC. While playing them with a keyboard and mouse is OK, to really get the experience you need an arcade cabinet. I could spend some time on just the PC setup, but I’m going to just concentrate on the cabinet construction here. I built this back in 2003 over the course of a week. If you’re interested in more info on MAME and where to get needed hardware you can check the project page here: ...

17th Century Jacobean Oak paneled room #1: Preface

218 days ago by woodwkr | 5 comments »

This was an interesting project that I worked on a few years ago. The photo above show the panels in the original room at Henwood Priory, Warwickshire, England. It is the only thing I had to go on. One wall had a fireplace that someone must have blacked out before the auction because it was not part of the sale.( a note: the photos that I use in this blog are rather large so you can see some of the detail. just click on them to see the whole photo and click again to see them actual size )...

Sewing Table #8: Done, Done, and Done.

107 days ago by Blake | 34 comments »

This project is finished. Let me show you what I have been up to the last two days. MAKING THE DRAWERS I trued up some stock on the jointer and planer out of Birch for the drawers: And then made the half-blind dovetails on my Incra router table (first time I’ve done that… so sweet) Assembled the drawers: And glued them up: Then I routed a stopped groove on the drawer sides: This seemed to work just right for sanding the inside of the gr...

Table Saw Mobile Workstation #6: Finishing up

133 days ago by Greg Wurst | 5 comments »

Here is the last segment on my mobile workstation. Overall I’m very pleased with it, but I would definitely make some changes if I had to do it again (due mainly to my screw-ups, not a problem with the design). First, as many of you know a typical contractor saw has a large number of gaping holes that make dust collection difficult. I used some 1/8” hardboard and magnetic vent cover sheets to block most of the holes. The back’s attached with velcro so it can be removed...

Tool Cabinet #2: Respect to all cabinet builders...

274 days ago by Sgt_Lobo | 14 comments »

For all of you cabinet builders on this site, my hat is off to you! I never fully realized the work that is involved in making a cabinet and how even the smallest mistakes can compound so very quickly… Right before Christmas I posted this blog asking for input on plans for a tool cabinet. Well, I took all the advice I received and have been furiously building over the holidays. Here is where I stand—I have completed the actual “cabinet” portion of the project. ...

Stool #1: Top (Video)

220 days ago by Woodshopfreak | 10 comments »

This is the start of one project that I acctually got from a stool I saw at school. I said to myself, that would be a great stool for my shop, so I bought the wood (pine for price reasons) and started the next day. I am hopefully going to finish the project this weekend, and I will post the second show about it soon, hopefully. Thanks for all the support.

The chair (design) that will not go away

270 days ago by FritzM | 26 comments »

I have been struggling with the final arm rest/leg design of a redwood patio chair, so I thought I would document the process and the progress thus far and as it moves forward (at a snails pace). First off, when I originally sketched this chair I fell in love. I couldn’t wait to get into the shop and get started. The need was for a set of deck chairs but i really wanted to avoid a straight Adirondack design. I was trying to get a comfortable contemporary look with both a minimal ...
