Southern Yellow Pine Work Surface (workbench) #17: Putting On The Feet

Here I am cutting out a chunk of wood from one side of the “feet” boards. It’s so much easier to chip out waste if there are smaller wafers standing. This reminds me somehow of piano keys. One side almost done. Just a little more fitting and then glue and dowel pins. Have to trim a bit on this one side of one of the upright posts to get the two boards to close together at the back. One of the things that I like about my job is that I get to do a little bit of everything; it lets me be the “jack of all trades” that I so like to be. Recently the bathroom sink in our employee area fell off of the wall after being stuck to it for almost 30 years. It was decided to do a little bit of a redesign, since most people were not overly thrilled with the small sink we had anyway. I had some help in assembly from one of my new employees who is getting more interested in the wood work...

Well i was given the task of creating new shed doors for my daughter cooperitive nursery school. There budget was “zero”, lol. SO i made it all out of scraps i had laying around from when i built my deck a few years back. And ofcourse being a fellow LJ i couldn’t just make plain old boring doors now could it…….. —This was the original door….. —Here was all my rough stock, a ton of PT lumber laying around in the loft of my garage...

New Deck #1: Starting the new deck.

Well I was working on building the deck and I kept saying. Take some pictures. But, it didn’t get done. These pictures are from before putting on the deck surface. The deck is placed just outside a small deck that goes between the screened porch and the Solarium. We have a spa in the Solarium room. The deck is basically 16’ X 16’. It’s 14 feet to the beginning of the curved edge. One end is tapered to match the sidewalk that goes around the house. I’...
