Christmas Came Early!

996 days ago by Ryan Haasen | 12 comments »

A few days a ago, my dad came home my christmas present, a Grizzly Go153×2 17” Bandsaw! What a beautiful saw. It took about a half hour to take it out of the crate and about two hours to set it up. He also picked up some timber wolf blades or Viking blades is what they were called at that store – a 1/2” and a 3/16”. I put the half inch blade on and did not bother with the blade it came with. I began ripping so two by fours to test for drift, nothing. Then I re-sawed...

Help! Looking for Christmas present for my dad

996 days ago by Rockydog | 7 comments »

Hey, I am a complete newbie to all the wood turning buisness but my dad has just got hooked on it as a hobbie. My dad has a lot of the tools nessasary but is missing a tool that he has wanted for a while. The tool has something to do with hollowing out a peice of wood to make a nice vace or anything with a hollowed out center. If someone could please give me any information or a link on such a tool or where to buy one that would be really helpful. Thanks!Rockydog

The 18th (3 days ago) was my 32 birthday (for you programmers, that’s 100000 in binary – I no longer fit in 5 bits!). Mom sent me a box of Rockler goodies from my wishlist. In typical (for my mom) fashion, she overdid the gift-giving. She’s always been very supportive of my endeavors. Thanks, mom! I’ll have to make her several nice thi...

First Commissioned Piece #1: My First Commissioned Piece

2556 days ago by Ethan Sincox | 7 comments »

Well, it isn’t really my first commissioned piece, but it is the first one commissioned by a complete stranger. I seem to have an unending list of people I know who want me to make them something or another… When I made a presentation box for my best man’s sgian dubh (wedding present), the guy who made the sgian dubh posted a picture of the box and knife on his website with a link to my own personal website. A few weeks ago, someone putting in an order for a sgian dubh ...
