With the publication of my article entitled “It’s a Secret” (click here to read the article online) in the November issue of Popular Woodworking, I started getting lots of email with comments and questions about the subject. Evidently so did the magazine because they started forwarding the emails to me. All had a common theme…”we want more!”.
Well, last week I started a series of posts on my blog that will add to the article. This series is going to be o...

LumberJocks raised the bar again with over 50 entries in our Bookcase Challenge. You proved that it’s possible to be very creative even with such a common project and you made the judging process extremely tough for the editors of the Popular Woodworking.
Here’s the summary of the event as well as the announcement of the winner and runner-ups by Glen Huey, Senior Editor of PW:
“Congratulations everyone. The LumberJocks excelled at designing great looking, buildable...

Here are the frequently asked questions answered by Glen Huey, Senior Editor of Popular Woodworking.
Can we enter an original design that we’ve recently executed and already built?Yes, as long you’re willing to build the unit again or work with us as we build it to your winning plan.
How detailed does initial design need to be? A set of plans, or just a rough sketch? This is, to a large extent, up to the you. We must to be able to determine from the drawings that the design is able...

I know posts come and go rather quickly here but I thought I’d see if I could generate a little Lumberjock interest in something over at the PopWood blog.
Glen Huey was out at my place last week teaching a class on the tea table he made for the June 2008 issue of Popular Woodworking. Amongst all the teaching, building and visits from Karson and David, we managed to squeeze in a bit of fun. The weather here last week was absolutely perfect. Each day we ate lunch outside. And each day,...

I’ve posted a couple of blog entries here at Lumberjocks about my show schedule so I could entice a bunch of other Lumberjocks to come out and we could meet when I’m in their area. I’m sure it’s been more of a thrill for me than it has for those who’ve made the trek out to meet me. On that front, there’s a couple more shows I’ll be attending this season but I’ll post about them a little later.
What I wanted to post about today was the fact th...
