This post is about the 20 butter boards I have orders for.\Finished work at 2.30 pm this afternoon and it is now 6.30 in the evening.With the 5 in glue up yesterday and now sanded..total is 23 ready… well ready for glue up… had a lot of fun cutting and ripping the Camphor and Rosewood.These pics are of all the bits ready for glue up…this will be a two stage glue up.. first the main board minus the handle blank… Cut the curve after glue up and the separate to allow glue...

So I had always planned to build Norm’s Miter Bench and Storage project in my workshop, but then I ran into the Ultimate Tool Stand. The more I started thinking about it, the more I liked the idea of combining the two concepts into one unit. I am currently planning to recess the miter saw area into the Norm’s bench. I am a new member to Lumberjocks, but have been reading the blogs and reviews as a guest for a number of months. This is a rambling blog about tool reviews, and not a tool review itself.
Last week I picked up a Delta Shopmaster TP305 planer at Lowe’s clearance sale… $180. I haven’t actually used it yet. I’m having second thoughts. It was the display unit… the last they had. I had previously read decent reviews, but I am wondering if those reviews covered this model. The price was too good to pass up. Maybe I should have passed?

RecapMy niece will graduate as a nurse in the near future. She has moved into a new house and asked me for a small desk for her new flat panel iMac. I decided to make an oak desk that would be loosely based on the mission style but with side panels that would reflect her future as an RN. My goal is a small desk 48” x 29” with keyboard drawer and a small drawer. I’ll be trying my first hand made dovetails on scrap and then on to my first dovetailed drawer

I have been searching around the internet for a wall clock that I like, I have been able to find clocks that have some design features I like but not one that reached out and grabbed me. This one from Klockit came the closest, I don’t care for the choice of wood or the finish but I can change these things.
There aren’t any plans as the clock is only available in kit form. The Klockit website shows a finished Size: 13 1/4”H x 13 1/2”W x 5 1/2”D, I’m thinking these dime...

Here I am, finally on Lumberjocks! I thought I would introduce myself by sharing a video of me working on my current project, a Shaker style six drawer dresser in walnut. This is becoming my typical style of woodworking over the last year. I mill lumber in the barn with a jointer, a planer and a table saw and then move to the Cottage Workshop where I slow things down, using hand tools and traditional techniques to join parts together. OK, I was paining 6 pieces of Red Oak down to 3/4 after replacing blades in the middle of the process. when I completed the job I had one board 3/4, one 1/2, two 5/8 and one 10/16th.
I realize I did not do any calibration after installing the new blades, I didn’t have to do any on the previous change out so skipped it this time. Also the lumber was of a poor grade with a lot of bowing and cupping. But I can’t figure out why I got such inconsistent results. Am I asking too mu...

The A3 31 is shipped on a wood platform attached to two steel bar channels. This in turn is bolted to a wood pallet. I elected to leave the unit on the platform and pallet for now. I’ll have to figure out how to get it down at a later date.There were bits of disintegrated plastic all over the interior of the box, along with lots of dead bugs and spiders.

hey everyone,
over the last couple of days i have been able to get a lot done in terms of milling up the lumber and gluing up panels. i chose sycamore for the trash box because it is a hard wood as opposed to the pine that i was going to use before. there was a sale at the lumberyard on sycamore and it was less per bf than a select 1 board of pine. so the purchase made sense. first i got my lumber and let it sit for awhile and then milled it up. the first picture is of a rough board and ...
