a bathroom cabinet / sideboard

643 days ago by KDL | 2 comments »

I thought it was high time I did a more detailed post. It’s not exactly blogesque, but at least it’s not clogging up the main projects with details. This goes with the cabinet I just posted on the projects page. Enjoy. This bathroom cabinet/sideboard was a house-warming present for a friend’s oddly-shaped full bathroom. At least, that’s what she thinks. I think it was a great excuse to use up some wood I had lying around, and a chance to try several things for the fi...

Tattoo Table #1: Just getting started

655 days ago by Boon | 4 comments »

So i was recently given a chance to make a coffee table for my local tattoo shop, and while they aren’t picky, i do have about a $300 limit, maybe more if I really impress. Today i started drawing up plans and looking up stuff online. so far the table top will be 62×34 inches with runners, stretchers and prefab legs. which brings me to my next question, where is the best place to look that has the biggest assortment of 12 to 16 inch turned/tapered legs? i did a google search but wa...

656 days ago by teenagewoodworker | 21 comments »

Hey Everybody! In this episode i am going to talk about how to mill lumber with only hand held power tools. This is an important part of woodworking because most boards aren’t jointed and parallel right out of the mill. Also i go through the steps of creating simple coat rack out of poplar so i can paint it. I hope that everyone enjoys the podcast! just a small correction. when i talk about the joinery for t...

Backyard Beauty (trying to get my wife to believe it) #1: New Shop Under Construction

659 days ago by Brian Harvey | 5 comments »

I started the permitting process for my woodshop in August 2007. Finally, in early January I got my permit from the city of Draper. I started construction shortly after I got the permit, the constant snow in the valley has made it a little slower than I was hoping for. Design summary includes, 1012sqft on the 1st floor with a finish room, mechanical room and small bath (enter from outside or inside, can be a changing room for pool later). The 2nd floor is 625sqft with a full bath and two r...

Mitre Sled #1: 45 Deg Mitre Sled.

663 days ago by sawdog | 2 comments »

I am trying to buid a accurate 45 deg mitre sled. I recently tried to use mitre saw and it is precise on smaller widths but if I go over 5”, there is slight drift on the outside edges and they are sightly off. I think a precision seld will eliminate this. I have a problem finding a true precise 90 deg setup to help in setting the sled up. I have all items and ready to assemble. I am using the 3,4,5 setup to get the 45 deg angle and T-track sliders for mitre slots. What is the...
