Was running out of daylight to take pictures in, so I had to finish quick… here’s the pieces: and here's the project

To date, the most time I’ve spent at the lathe was 3 hours – and that was in a small classroom setting practing beads and coves – 1/2 the time playing and getting a feel for the tools, and the rest of the time trying to make deliberate shapes – while contantly dealing with catches. Today, I began working on my wood joinery/garden project. 1 hour of planning and cutting, 4 hours straight at the lathe! Also to date, the longest things I’ve turned came in around ...
Dedicated Hummock’s That Inspire ....from where comes this now my way of having a working mode, when before this place i call home, there starts the un-ravel in front of my eye, and so i am lost within the beauty of a moment’s twinkle of ‘wood art’.... —-why even now the tears cascade down my eyes, as i am in-riched by this wonderous panorama that opens up, having no-place to go in this game of hide and seek, i eat bount-i-fully of the feast that has been s...
I have these 2 rails to resaw into 4 aprons. Cutting off the trim detail (that held the window panes in place) allowed these to fit in my small bandsaw. Unfortunately with this project now well underway, and really close to the deadline, I’m find I may be trying too many new things, with this project. I didn't feel like removing the 2x4 MDF zero-clearance top to my tablesaw to resaw these with the fence I have set up for the standard top (as is my most practiced method). So I tho...
....of OutHouses and Septic’s Galore ....and so while walking through this break in a stone wall, i spied into the life of one such as i, where have all your sayings of yesterday gone, when one such as i walks into your scrapbook of life imagined images…. —-no leaf falling to the earthen floor of my domain, screamed so loud from it’s palace of branches throne, as when it settled to fathom the amazing amassing of culture exchange, that is being written as i speak...
Bench Dogging After Greene and Greene And so we now move on to the getting of legs, and in all your getting, be sure to take what you can use. Moving now to the fourth bay of my barn on the south side, I have a bay filled with lumber from past accumulated workings of wood projects. Looking through the rows of some stickered and some stacked lumber, I soon found what I thought would make some good legs for the table bench dogs. The pine I decided on using was left over from a barn door ...
Wood Stories: ”Bench Dogging Before Greene and Greene” ....ah yes, and then it all starts coming back into focus, as i relax my grip upon this place of fields and greens, where imagination comes calling and selling herself to the highest bidder of foolish dreams…. —-and i realize now, that i am one of those foolish dreamers with pockets full of golden star dust, who could never quite adjust to walking this place of earthen dust, by giving up my right to silent...
The whole reason I joined Lumberjocks was because I wanted to get some information about the Thorsen Table Challenge. After spending countless hours here I decided I better at least attempt a table. SWMBO said that I could only build a table if the wood choice matched the bedroom furniture (The Wife’s Dresser). So sorry Obi, but it is going to be made out of pine. I decided to add some Cedar for a contrasting wood Just to do something different I went with a brick laid patt...
One of my first ideas for this challenge was to make a “green” table – as in recycled, not painted. After weeks of pondering, and ultimately ignoring the problem of where to begin, and more importantly, what to use, I remembered that I had this door sitting in my shed. It may have been original to the house, but has been collecting dust for the past 5 or so years since we bought the house and replaced the exterior doors – this one had dog door cut out of it and was ...
Providere, a Work In Process Well I finished roughing out a shape of the last of four legs last night with the drawknife, and I thought I would post a picture of where the ‘in the process’ of Providere now stands. 1) Cherry backsplash, needs to enter into it’s hand sanding phase, starting with #120 grit….and ending with some slurpies…. 2) Table top, needs to be worked some more on sides with a timber slick to get a better trueness…. 3) End board...
