I’m a member over on the IAP forums, and they recently had a group buy which I took advantage of for $15 a set, plus shipping you could order a full set of pen mill shafts and heads in all the usual diameters… interchangeable shafts and two different heads, one 4 blade, one 6 blade. Oh, and just for fun I started another pen swap over on FamilyWoodworking.org Here’s the box as it stands now. A buddy of mine and I jointly loaded it up for the startup: Ther...
Actually, the box isn’t “giant” – but it’s jammed full, and pretty heavy. The first thing I find when I open it is Tim’s extensive instructions to the swappers. And then a sheet for each of us to fill in what we added and what we removed. Finally, after the ream of paper at the top, here are the blanks! The box started with five blanks, five pens, and five pen kits. By the time I got it, it still has five pen kits, but nine pens, and 42! blanks.I...
And it’s big. Still sitting on the kitchen table for now – I expect to be opening it (with lots of pictures) a bit later this evening. It’s very exciting!
Hey Jocks, I received quite a few emails during this leg of the trade, unfortunately it took a bit longer than anticipated for the box to make it to Relic in Nova Scotia, but it is there now and we are moving right along. Here’s the latest map… After Relic makes his trades the box is off to Rikkor in Minnesota and then wayyy over on the Left Coast to Nils in CA – then it’s back ‘home’ to Georgia. Looks like it will probably head off again sinc...
Hi Jocks, ScottB just let us know he’ll drop the packaging in the mail. From the way it looks at sounds you’ll now need a loading dock if you want to be part of the pen trade, no more of this sissy carrying a box to the front door stuff for us! Here’s a map update… ...and how the spread looked when ScottB received it… He’ll share some pics soon on the outgoing package… per Scott the package is busting at the seams. You guys are a...
Tim (itsme_timd) sent out the box for the pen turner's swap over the weekend. I’m the second to last out of eight participants, so I’ve probably got a few weeks to prepare. I have quite a few pen kits and blanks, and even a few made up pens, but I want to do one or two special things for the box. I’ve been looking at the CSUSA kits, which get great reviews from other LJ’s. I might spring for one of their more upscale styles to put in the box. I also got the WoodTurning...
A few of us her at LJ that turn pens decided to get together and swap some of goodies. We’ve started a package moving around the country (actually, around North America – we dip into Canada as well!) containing 5 turned pens, 5 pen kits and 5 blanks. Here’s a map to show where we’re located and where our pens will travel: When each Jock gets the package he’ll go through it and decide what he wants to take from it, he can take all or nothing but… what...
