Hi folks! So, having broken my faithful mallet, I set out to make a new one out of some hardwood stretchers that I reclaimed from a pallet. View on YouTube
Day 1 of Fence Installation. Looks like we will be getting a lot of rain soon, so hopefully we will be able to get the work done between storms. I sold my old lumber storage solution which was… inelegant, to put it lightly. I am purposely storing this set of lumber outside, half because I ran out of room in my indoor storage, but also to have a bit of weathered wood handy, should the need arise. I went simple with this, using some pallet runners, I bored some holes at a slight angle ever so slightly undersized for the conduit pieces I had prepared as shelf supports. I then attached the wood brackets to the wall and hammered in...
https://youtu.be/NL-KcL0LvNo Hello again folks! In my continuing work with reclaimed wood, I made a rustic bird house! I also made a video about it! Enjoy!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4BlNiZCJQY I needed a way to access higher shelves in my workshop, so I made myself a step stool out of some pallet wood! I hope you enjoy!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19UQdKfjUsY About a month ago, I made a clock out of some pallet wood. I decided it was about time I give the clock face some TLC. I hope you enjoy!
I ended up with a lot of footage, so I am going to split the video up as needed to the time manageable. In this video, I start my new project which is a tilt-out wastebasket cabinet. As usual, I start out with rough lumber, so much of this first video is about preparing the stock. Need to Joint a board that is wider than your jointer? I cover that in this video as well. Stay tuned to see how it all turns out! View on YouTube Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thomaslightleFaceb...
The time has come to start building my new workbench. I am using wood from some industrial size pallets from my work. The wood is some kind of spruce that came out of Hungary. In this installment I will be preparing the stock that will become the tabletop. I have to do some serious milling to get the stock straight and square before I could get it ready for glue-up. Be sure to participate in the comments section, and I hope you enjoy the video! View on YouTube Instagram: https://www.i...
This is by far my most popular video on Youtube. Funny thing is that I almost didn’t upload it because I didn’t think anyone would be interested. I was wrong. From my channel: Getting the nails out of pallet wood can be the most time-consuming part of salvaging the wood. The pallets I have come apart pretty easily, so I wanted to find a faster, easier way to get the nails out. This is what I came up with… Pallet Wood De-Nailer
Before this project, I had never made anything other than pens on the lathe. I had some scrap pieces from an oak pallet and I decided to laminate them together and experiment. I didn’t know what it would be when I started. I had thought maybe do a little Christmas tree, but then it started looking like a candle holder, so I just went with that. I don’t have a chuck, so I just turned it between a spur center and the tail-stock. I can really see the value of having a chuck now...
